Sadly Lisa Brown, who was known for her roles in different daytime television programs like “Guiding Light” and “As the World Turns,” has passed away.

The actress’ death was announced today and she was 67 at the time of her death. Soap Opera Digest was the first to report on her death. The site stated that she had passed away from a “brief illness,” but it is unclear at this time what that illness is.

Lisa Brown played Nola Reardon on “Guiding Light” and as Iva Snyder on “As the World Turns.” In fact, her co-star that played daughter on “As the World Turns,” Martha Byrne, released a statement after finding out her friend had passed away.

Friends of Lisa Brown Share Messages

“How blessed were we all are to have Lisa share her immense talent with us for decades. She was my friend since I was 15 years old from the day Doug Marland introduced me to my ‘mother,'” Byrne said, according to The Sun.

Besides expressing respect for her talent, Byrne also fawned over getting to know Lisa Brown in real life as well.

“Lisa was my mentor, mother, sister and so much more for my entire life. As a scene partner she was always present and full of creativity. As a writer and director her instincts were second to none. I will miss our daily calls about our families, our careers and everything in between. For the fans, she loved and respected you all more than you will ever know. She loved entertaining you and her appreciation for your support was immeasurable. We are devastated at the loss of an incredible woman,” she said.

Lisa Brown left behind her two children as well as her two grandchildren. She was married to fellow actor Tom Nielsen. He actually played her boyfriend Floyd Parker on “Guiding Light” from 1982 to 1985. However, she later married Brian Neary in 1997.

The Long History of ‘Guiding Light’

Her son, James Anthony Nielsen, also was on “Guiding Light” with her when he was just an infant. He has since grown up and is also the lead singer of a band called Senses Fail.

“Guiding Light” was a popular TV soap opera. It is also listed as the second-longest-running drama in TV history, according to Guinness World Records. It aired for 57 years from 1952 to 2009 and also had a radio broadcast at the same time that technically extends the air time. The initial series was created by Irna Phillips and Emmons Carlson.

It was canceled after decades when it started to get low ratings. Given the long duration of the series, Lisa Brown had several other co-stars during her time on the show. Some of which include Kim Zimmer, Robert Newman, Michael O’Leary, Crystal Chappell, and Grant Aleksander.
