There’s something to be said about the simple pleasures in life like going for a walk. It’s something our Outsiders have known all along. It’s the perfect way to add a little fresh air to your daily routine, and if you’re like me, you love looking out for little critters during your walks. Just observing nature doing its thing. Now, sometimes these “close encounters” don’t really go the way we expect. Just ask this man who was attacked by a pack of crazed otters. Other times, though, you get to experience something really special and walk away with a story to tell your grandchildren. Just ask “Happy Days” icon Ron Howard.
While Ron Howard and his wife Cheryl were exploring the Kensington Gardens of London, something peculiar happened. The lovebirds got to experience a “close encounter” with another set of lovebirds and shared the moment on social media.
‘Happy Days’ Star Shares Close Encounters of the Avian Kind
As you’ll see from the video, the “Happy Days” star and his wife encountered beautiful wild parakeets during their London walk. One even found a cozy nest and decided to make itself comfortable right on top of Cheryl’s head. You can see the sweet moment they captured in his tweet below.
Check it out:
For the geography buffs, the Kensington Gardens are located in London and span almost 300 acres. For the history/science buffs, one fan’s reply explains where the wild parakeet species may have come from. Apparently, there are legends about their connections to the set of “African Queen” which was filmed at Isleworth Studios at the start of the ’50s.
Another fan hilariously wrote: “I love [that] her husband is an Academy Award-winning director…[and] she still has to ask…’Are you getting this?'”
While most fans seemed to enjoy the sweet surprise, not everyone was amused. One fan wrote:
“I’m glad your wife enjoyed herself, but it looks absolutely terrifying to me – and no I’ve never seen Hitchcock’s ‘The Birds’ – I loathe birds – thanks for the mini anxiety attack on a Saturday morning Ron !”
