On Tuesday night, actor turned famed director Ron Howard posted a touching tribute to his late father on what would’ve been his 93rd birthday.

Rance Howard passed away at the age of 89 four years ago in 2017. Rance and his wife, Jean Speegle Howard, are who introduced Ron and his younger brother, Clint, to show business. The couple were both actors who raised their children in and around Hollywood. In fact, Clint and Ron Howard co-wrote a book recently as a tribute to their late father that details their lives growing up in Tinseltown.

Along with a short message on Twitter, Howard shared a candid photo from the set of his 1992 western Far and Away. As was the norm, his father had a cameo in the movie, similar to most of Howard’s films. The movie starred legendary actors Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, but the focus of his picture was on his family this time.

The black and white picture shows Rance and his son both with cowboy hats on. Additionally, Ron is holding his then three-year-old son Reed in his arms. Three generations of Howard men in one photo are seen smiling ear to ear. It’s a touching tribute to his late father who is dearly missed by Ron Howard and the rest of his family.

“Here’s a family snapshot from the set of #FarandAway. I’m holding my then 3yr old son Reed. Next to me is my dad, #RanceHoward. Today would’ve been his 93rd birthday. Man, do we miss him. It meant a lot to write about our relationship in http://hc.com/theboys,” Ron Howard tweeted.

Clint and Ron Howard Are ‘Bowled Over’ By Fans’ Support of Their New Book

As we already mentioned, Clint and Ron Howard’s co-authored memoir released last month on Oct. 12. The Boys: A Memoir of Hollywood and Family revisits the two brothers’ incredible lives growing up together around Hollywood. The book is a celebration of the two men’s careers while also sharing personal anecdotes from their experiences on and off-set of countless TV shows and movies.

The brothers were born into the entertainment industry. Parents Rance and Jean Speegle Howard were both working actors who made their livings in show business. Each of their children followed in their parents’ footsteps and became actors as well. Most fans remember Ron Howard’s early work on television beginning with The Andy Griffith Show. He later went on to star in Happy Days before getting into directing.

However, some fans may not realize how many projects Clint Howard has worked on in Hollywood as well. The prolific actor has more than 250 acting credits to his name during his 50-plus year career.

Between the two siblings, you know the memoir is chock full of firsthand Hollywood stories. As the memoir hit bookshelves last month, the early reception to it was overwhelming, according to Ron Howard. He took to social media once again to thank their fans for all of their recent support and shared how much he appreciated it.
