‘Happy Days’ Star Henry Winkler Remembers Time He Posed with Muppets for Magazine Cover

Henry Winkler has certainly had some pretty major high points through his career. But, as the former Happy Days star recently shared on his Twitter, one of his greatest memories involves a couple of famous plush superstars, one of which shares a name similar to Winkler’s own famous Happy Days character, the Fonz.

In 1983, Henry Winkler took a break from starring as the iconic greaser Arthur “the Fonz” Fonzerelli to become a cover model on one of the most awesome magazines to ever exist, the Muppet Magazine. And, Winkler notes, it’s a memory that he will always cherish.

“A great memory,” the longtime actor writes in a November 7 Twitter post.

The post features the Happy Days star’s magazine cover moment on the once-popular Muppet Magazine. Winkler is all smiles as he poses with our favorite “it’s not easy being green” Muppet Show host, Kermit the Frog, and everyone’s favorite fuzzy comedian, Fozzie the bear.

In the photo, Winkler sits between Kermit and Fozzie while a highlight in the issue notes that “Fozzie Meets the Fonz: Henry Winkler.”

Winkler’s Iconic ‘Happy Days’ Look Is Always A Hit

Henry Winkler became famous in the mid-1970s as he portrayed Arthur Fonzerelli in the classic hit sitcom Happy Days along with Ron Howard who portrayed Richie Cunningham in the popular series.

During his career, the actor would often appear as the Fonz with a variety of muppets during a variety of appearances on Sesame Street segments.

It was an exciting moment for sure when the Jim Henson Muppets met Winkler. It even appears that the fuzzy stars are dressed as Winkler’s popular character, even wearing leather jackets similar to the one Winkler wears when playing “the Fonz” on Happy Days.

Auctioning Off A Piece of Television History

During the show’s ten-season run, Fonz’s iconic Happy Days look became so popular that one of the prized leather jackets worn by Winkler in the series is about to go up for auction at Botham-Los Angeles.

The actor is donating the item to race money for a charity the actor co-founded with his daughter.

The jacket will soon be auctioned off as part of a complete “Fonzie” outfit that also includes one of the character’s vintage white t-shirts, a pair of jeans, and the motorcycle boots the Fonz was often seen wearing in the series.

“I have this space away from everything and in it was 27 to 30 boxes, all of my memorabilia, my swag,” Winkler says of the items he took away from his days starring on Happy Days.

The actor notes that he didn’t even remember everything that was in the boxes, so he was happy to let the auction house sort through the items.

“I didn’t even realize what I had,” the actor continues.”I didn’t open these boxes for years. Bonhams came and went through it all.”

According to the New York Post, the outfit is estimated to sell for a price as high as $70,000.
