‘Harry Potter’ Actor Tom Felton Collapses During Celebrity Round at Ryder Cup

“Harry Potter” fans will recognize actor Tom Felton as Harry’s longtime nemesis Draco Malfoy. He became a worldwide movie star for his portrayal of the Slytherin House wizard. However, Felton found himself in a considerably less magical situation recently. He reportedly collapsed on the course Thursday while playing a celebrity round of golf at the Ryder Cup ahead of tournament play.

The Ryder Cup is preparing to kick off at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisconsin. Today, several celebrities took to the course to play a round before the international competition gets underway on Friday. Among the stars in attendance were Toni Kukoc, Mandy Rose, Mike Eruzione, Stephanie Szostak, Dan Jansen, A.J. Hawk, Alessandro Del Piero, and Kelly Slater.

According to the Daily Mail, 34-year old “Harry Potter” star Tom Felton fell and was immediately surrounded by those concerned for his well-being. He received medical attention on the course and was hauled away on a cart. He appeared in stable condition as he stood up before being taken away from the course for further examination.

The Celebrity of ‘Harry Potter’ Star Tom Felton

As was the case with much of the “Harry Potter” cast, Tom Felton rose to stardom at an early age. He was barely 14 years old when “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” came out in 2001. And over the course of 10 years, Felton starred in all eight of the franchise’s titles.

The Daily Mail reports Tom Felton organizing a virtual reunion for the entire cast of the movies in November 2020. During the festivities, the “Harry Potter” star even recounted a story from his audition for the part of Draco Malfoy.

“They finally dyed my hair blonde, and I was put into a line of blonde-haired young actors. One by one we were all asked ‘What are you most excited about from the book to be transferred to the film?’ It only dawned on me when the kid next to me was saying about Gringotts that I didn’t have an answer, so when Chris Columbus got to me I was just like ‘Yeah same as this kid, Gringotts, flying around, I love Gringotts.’ I believe that’s what got me the part!” said Felton.

And fans may remember that back in April, his on-screen mother in the “Harry Potter” movies, Helen McRory, passed away.

“So sad to say farewell so suddenly – I never took the chance to tell her , but she helped shape me as a person so much – on & off screen,” Felton wrote in the caption. “She was always relentlessly herself- razor sharp wit – silver tongued – kind & warm hearted. She suffered no fools yet had time for everyone – thank you for lighting the way forward & holding my hand when I needed it xx.”
