‘Home Alone’ Buzz McAllister Actor Reportedly Has Cops Called on Him Over Fight With Girlfriend

by Allison Hambrick

Home Alone actor Devin Ratray had the cops called on him after an alleged domestic dispute with his girlfriend. According to TMZ, the authorities were called to a Hyatt in Oklahoma City.

While the details of the dispute were not revealed, the Home Alone actor’s rep said that the fight was verbal, not physical. The two decided to break up as a result. The cops stated that the matter was resolved after the couple split into separate hotel rooms. No arrests were made.

Of course, Ratray is most known for his role as Buzz McCallister, Kevin’s borderline sociopathic brother in the first two Home Alone films. Buzz’s memorable tricks include threatening to feed Kevin to his tarantula and ruining his Christmas solo. The character made a cameo in the 2021 reboot of the series. In Home Sweet Home Alone, Ratray again played Buzz McCallister. Given that the film takes place 30 years after the original, Buzz is now an adult. He pursued a career as a cop and is called by the protagonist to scare away the intruders.

Additionally, there were talks of a Home Alone cast reunion. Whether or not this dispute will affect those chances remains to be seen.

Home Alone Stars May Reunite

In a recent interview, Ratray discussed the possible reunion with his onscreen siblings from Home Alone.

“They have been planning a reunion online and I just recently, as in a couple of days ago, got on their messenger chat thread,” Ratray revealed. “I have been trying to keep up with Jed Cohen and Diana [Rein] and Terrie [Snell] and Angela Goethals and Hillary Wolf. The family is moving on their own accord to get together. So who knows what’s going to happen in the future?”

While Macaulay Culkin has not been involved in these chats, his former big brother maintains a good relationship with the actor. Also, absent from these discussions is Catherine O’Hara, who portrayed the matriarch of the McCallister family, Kate.

While working with her on the set of Home Alone, Ratray found that O’Hara was “one of the nicest, sweetest, kindness people” and “so generous.” He appreciated the advice and professionalism she had towards the younger actors on set. Specifically, Ratray recalled the actress explaining how to frame yourself out of the shot for other actor’s close-ups.

“She was there for us every take,” Ratray explained. “Giving everything that she would do for her own closeups.”

Additionally, the Home Alone actor has discussed the film’s legacy at length. He is proud that “parents are showing children, children are showing grandchildren something that [he] was a part of.”

“I’ve come to realize that this movie, it’s bigger than me,” Ratray explained. “It’s bigger than any actor’s ego. It has become part of indelible imprints on family – in their consciousness.”
