‘Home Town’ Star Erin Napier Tributes ‘America’s Military Caregivers’ in Moving Post

by Michael Freeman

Known for restoring old houses and homes, Home Town star Erin Napier also passionately likes giving back to the community in other ways. One of those ways is honoring America’s military caregivers, which she does with a moving Instagram post.

Attending an Elizabeth Dole Foundation function last night, Napier spoke about two American military caregivers. These caregivers aspire to care for our nation’s veterans, something that touches Napier deeply.

“America’s military caregivers promise to care for our veterans,” the caption begins. “Now and forever, we promise to care for them. We’re proud to join @ElizabethDoleFoundation tonight at 8 pm ET, to share the stories of Ilihia Gionson & Angelena Taylor, two of our nation’s #hiddenheroes who are their veteran parents’ primary caregivers. We hope you’ll tune in for this star-spangled evening. Reserve your spot for tonight’s #HHMGala2021 at the link in my profile.”

The Elizabeth Dole Foundation exists to support our country’s military caregivers. Numbering around 5.5 million, these people care for our ill and wounded veterans. In the organization’s own words, they aim to “Strengthen and empower America’s military caregivers and their families by raising public awareness, driving research, championing policy, and leading collaborations that make a significant impact on their lives.”

Last night was their Heroes & History Makers gala. As Napier mentioned, the gala honored Ilihia Gionson and Angelena Taylor for their contributions. Additionally, the gala’s official Twitter account thanked Jenny, Noah, Ida, and Jessica.

Erin Napier Announces There Won’t be a Second ‘Home Town Takeover’ Season

With Erin Napier announcing this year HGTV and Discovery+ renewed both Home Town and Ben’s Workshop, fans wondered about Home Town Takeover receiving the same treatment. After the initial social media announcement, Napier clarified why the latter show wasn’t getting another season.

Lacking official word about Home Town Takeover, fans asked Napier about the show’s future. Taking to Twitter, she lamented the fact it was not getting renewed. Ben’s (her husband) schedule is hectic enough as is and family life is demanding.

“I’ll be honest, the takeover life is not all that simpatico with family life,” Napier replied to a Twitter user. “it was an amazing adventure for us, but likely the only one like it until (maybe) our girls are much older.”

While fans were upset, comments to the announcement are all kind and understanding. “That is totally understandable… You guys did an amazing job.. It was so fun to watch the journey… You guys never disappoint!!” someone wrote. Another commented it helped them with their anxiety, so it really is a shame the couple doesn’t have the time anymore.

Who knows, maybe they’ll make it a family affair once their kids are older.
