Is ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Airing a New Episode Tonight?

by Joe Rutland

The holiday season can interrupt a network’s TV schedule. So, will CBS drama NCIS: Los Angeles be airing a new episode tonight?

Outsiders, let’s take a look and see with a little help from Matt & Jess.

The quick answer is no. There is no new episode on CBS tonight.

In fact, there is no new NCIS: Los Angeles episode until Jan. 2, 2022. That’s right, Outsiders. Find a little relief for your New Year’s Day hangover and dial into this series’ new episode.

On Jan. 2, the episode Lost Soldier Down pops up. The synopsis is as follows: “NCIS investigates the apparent suicide of a Navy intelligence officer who leapt to his death after taking LSD. Also, while Kensi is away, Deeks makes plans to redo the backyard without her input.” This episode, by the way, is directed by star Daniela Ruah, who plays Kensi Blye.

Then, on Jan. 9, the episode A Land of Wolves airs on Sunday night. This synopsis reads: “The NCIS team scrambles to find Kensi when she is attacked and kidnapped by a mysterious militia group while helping a group of migrants cross the border.”

Having two episodes where she plays important parts, behind and in front of the camera, brings Ruah to the forefront.

NCIS: Los Angeles also stars Chris O’Donnell, LL Cool J, Eric Christian Olsen, Gerald McRaney, Medalion Rahimi, and Caleb Castille.

‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Faces Tough Question Around Whether Hetty Lange Returns This Season

Longtime fans of the CBS drama know that Hetty Lange has been an indispensable character. Lange, played by Linda Hunt, has not been seen very much this season.

That’s because Hetty is off on a mission to Syria.

So, will she return to NCIS: Los Angeles this season?

Fans headed over to Reddit and commented on a thread titled Hetty.

One writer asks, “Do you think Hetty will return? Why has Hetty been absent since Season 10?”

But another Redditor says, “She’s been absent pre-Covid because of the recovery from Linda Hunt’s car crash, which I’m pretty sure was worse than publicly acknowledged. Her absence since Covid has been because of, well, Covid and its tendency to kill those above the age of 70. Plus, Linda Hunt is getting on in years and probably doesn’t want to work as much. You can stop asking the same question every couple of weeks now.”

Remember that NCIS: Los Angeles had Hunt appear as Lange last season.

The show, though, took their cameras out to her Los Angeles home. It is from that point they filmed her scenes.

Why did she not appear on set? COVID-19 restrictions were in place. Stay tuned, though, about Hunt’s future on the show.
