Unfortunately, British-born actor Jack Hedley has passed away at the age of 92. The death followed “a short illness bravely borne” and occurred on December 11th. Per his own request, no funeral will be held. If you don’t recognize his name, you may recognize his face from the earlier James Bond days. He joined the project during Roger Moore’s run as the titular 007 agent.

Hedley took his acting career seriously appearing in various TV and film works over his decades-long career. He especially had an impact on his native UK home. Join us as we take a look back at some of his most notable projects and remember all of the hard work he poured into his craft.

Jack Hedley Belonged to an Award-Winning Cast

Born in London at the very tail-end of the ’20s, Jack Hedley started acting a couple of decades later. One of his earliest roles involved the BBC series The World of Tim Frazer. He then went on to successfully feature in a handful of works from the ’60s like The Scarlet Blade, Witchcraft, The Secret of Blood Island, and Lawrence of Arabia. Though his name did not appear in the official credits for the latter project, the cast did go on to earn the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1963.

His role in the James Bond “For Your Eyes Only” installation really solidified him in the entertainment scene. Here, Jack Hedley portrayed marine archaeologist Sir Timothy Havelock and voiced Sir Timothy Havelock’s parrot as well. His character was Melina Havelock’s (Carole Bouquet) father and the film marked the fifth installment with Roger Moore as the lead. It was released in 1981.

Afterward, Hedley booked the lead role himself in Lucio Fulci’s The New York Ripper. He was no stranger to British TV either making appearances on The Buccaneers, Only Fools and Horses, Colditz, Dixon of Dock Green, and even a TV film version of Brief Encounter.
