‘Jeopardy!’: 20-Day Champion Amy Schneider Is Now Tied for Most Wins by a Woman

by Shelby Scott

This season of “Jeopardy!” has been momentous in terms of game show records. Now, current 20-day champion Amy Schneider is tied for another record. While the contestant has already made game show history several times over, Schneider is tied for the most wins by a woman on “Jeopardy!”

As per Today, Schneider tied a 2014 record set by former contestant Julia Collins, who held the same record at a 20 game win streak. Typically, we might expect contestants to remain competitive alongside former players. However, Schneider instead shared that the sweater she wore during the Tuesday game was actually inspired by Collins herself. According to the outlet, the 2014 contestant donned a similar look for her 20-game win streak.

Of her attire, Schneider shared, “Julia Collins won 20 games and so this is my 20th game and so I just wanted to wear a sweater in tribute. She was definitely one of my favorite ‘Jeopardy!’ champions.”

Amy Schneider Continues to Make ‘Jeopardy!’ History

The feat is only one of many Schneider’s accomplished so far this season, making “Jeopardy!” history earlier this month when she became the first transgender contestant to qualify for the Tournament of Champions.

While the public has definitely received inspiration from the groundbreaking “Jeopardy!” contestant, Schneider previously emphasized she did not want her run on the game show to be “too much about being trans.”

However, she did share she is “proud” to be a trans woman. The game show contestant’s take on her gender identity, while playing a major role in her life, actually crosses her mind infrequently. In speaking to her story, Schneider shared, “I don’t actually think about being trans all that often, and so when appearing on national television, I wanted to represent that part of my identity accurately: as important, but also relatively minor.”

Amy Schneider Becomes Game Show’s Highest-Earning Woman

Alongside her record 20-game win streak, Amy Schneider has already broken another record. That’s the former record as the highest-earning woman to appear on “Jeopardy!”

Christmas Eve saw the now-famous contestant make history as the highest-earning woman to appear on the game show, surpassing a record held by Larissa Kelly.

Again, like Collins, Schneider was humble in accepting the new title. Kelly shared support for the current reigning champ on social media.

Kelly tweeted, “Well, it’s been fun to hold a Jeopardy record for a few years…but it’s been even more fun to watch [Amy Schneider] set new standards for excellence, on the show and off. Congratulations to Amy on becoming the woman with the highest overall earnings in the show’s history!”

It appears “Jeopardy!” creates a strong bond among contestants. Schneider responded with an equally positive comment.

“Thanks so much,” she tweeted. “I’m honored to be in your company, and I look forward to some day watching the woman who beats us both!”
