In a recent article written by current Jeopardy! champion Amy Schneider, she revealed legendary contestant Ken Jennings’ reaction to her fifth win.

Schneider is now on a five-game winning streak, which has guaranteed her a spot in the next “Tournament of Champions” event. The current host of the game show knows the tournament and a long win streak well. Jennings still holds the record for most consecutive wins in a row. In 2004, he went on a historic 74-game win streak that still stands today.

Earlier this month on Nov. 8th, Jennings temporarily took over the Jeopardy! podium as the show continues its search for a permanent host. If anyone knows what it’s like to compete as a multi-show winner, it would be Ken Jennings.

In her article for Newsweek, Schneider opened up about Jennings as a host. She also spoke about earning her fifth victory, which puts her in a special category of contestants.

“I also had a lot of the same feelings as when I won the first game; unreality and relief. And a sense that I hadn’t been deluding myself all those years I’d thought I would be good at this. It was a really proud moment,” Amy Schnieder wrote in her Newsweek article.

The current Jeopardy! champ also shared details about her interactions with Jennings following the big win.

“Ken Jennings was very congratulatory and I’ve absolutely loved all my interactions with him,” she added. “He’s been a really good host and when I won my fifth game he was just chatting with us about the Final Jeopardy! clue as he usually does. He’s a trivia person and he likes to talk about why we went in a certain direction with our answers. He always shares how he did too. I believe he looks at the clues during the game and sees how long it takes him to figure it out. But he was very supportive about my win.”

‘Jeopardy!’ Champion Shares Her ‘Only Strategy’ Used During Her Win Streak

During Amy Schneider’s same Newsweek article, she revealed the one and only strategy she has utilized so far on the game show.

The engineering manager took over as the champion of the game show last Wednesday. She dethroned previous champ Andrew He, and has been on an impressive win streak of her own since then. The current Jeopardy! champion penned the article detailing her experiences while on the ongoing win streak. Schneider also revealed the strategy that has obviously served her well since her first appearance on the show.

“The only strategy I really had was that if I came up against a category I thought I would be weak in—for example popular music—I would get it out of the way first. That way, if there were any doubles in that category, they would come up when there wasn’t as much money to be wagered,” Schneider wrote.
