“Jeopardy!” champ Amy Schneider certainly must have a method to her madness. Schneider continues to wow Jeopardy fans. The champ has now won 16 consecutive games, amassing wins of $631,400. This impressive streak puts Schneider in fourth place for most winnings, behind only Ken Jennings, James Holzhauer, and Matt Amodio. Host and former contestant Ken Jennings says of Schneider, “I don’t know about you, but as a Jeopardy! diehard myself, there is nothing I like more than watching a great champion play the game at such a high level of excellence as we’ve seen from our champion, Amy Schneider. She’s so impressive out here.”

One habit Schneider seems to have is she wagers $4000 for daily doubles. When Ken Jennings pointed this out and asked, “Is there any significance behind the $4000..?”. Schneider responds, “I don’t know, I think it just sort of evolved and now it’s in my head as a default, yeah.” The pair discussed why it seems to be a good choice in order to protect winnings.

Amy Schneider Makes ‘Jeopardy!’ History

Schneider is making “Jeopardy!” History in more ways than one. Although she is not the first transgender contestant to appear on the show, she is the first to qualify for the champion’ tournament.

Director of Transgender Representation for LGBTQ media advocacy organization GLAAD, Nick Adams, shared his thoughts on Schneider’s Jeopardy! appearances.

“Amy Schneider’s incredible run on Jeopardy! allows families all over the country to get to know her as someone who is great at word puzzles, has in-depth knowledge on a range of topics, and who also happens to be a transgender woman,” Adams said. “Amy is using her history-making appearances and new platform to raise awareness of transgender issues and share a bit of her personal story too. We can’t wait to see how long her run lasts.”

Winner Explains Her Tattoo to Twitter

Schneider also explained her tattoo in a tweet, and how it connects to her transition.

“My tattoo is indeed of Ozma of Oz,” she tweeted “For those who don’t know, L. Frank Baum wrote many sequels to The Wizard of Oz, and in all of them, the ruler of Oz was Princess Ozma. She had been the rightful heir, but was kidnapped as a baby by a sorceress, who enchanted her to become a boy. Eventually, the enchantment is lifted, and she is revealed to be the beautiful princess she always was. So it seemed like the perfect image to commemorate my transition!”

Schneider continues to break records. If her winning streak continues, she will climb up the ranks for most games won consecutively. Although it is possible for her to move up places for most winnings, she’s got a long way to go. The current third-place holder for most winnings is Matt Amodio, ending with well over $1 million dollars.
