‘Jeopardy!’ Contestants Totally Whiff on Massively Popular Rapper’s Name

by Shelby Scott

This season of “Jeopardy!” has been interesting to say the least regarding a variety of hosting change-ups, Matt Amodio’s memorable run, and now contestant Amy Schneider’s historic milestone as the first openly transgender individual to make it this far into the competition.

However, now current “Jeopardy!” contestants are breaking headlines as they totally deadpanned on one music superstar.

According to Us, the Monday, December 27th episode featured a clue reading, “The stage name of this rapper and actor gets shortened to MGK.” While numerous Outsiders needed less than a second to make the connection to Machine Gun Kelly, the clue did little for our “Jeopardy!” participants. That’s even after the clue card featured a photo of the 31-year-old artist.

Unfortunately for our “Jeopardy!” contestants, it didn’t take long for social media to criticize the trio’s lack of familiarity with the iconic rapper. Even “Jeopardy!” legend and current host Ken Jennings quipped, “Not fans of Machine Gun Kelly, apparently.”

Meanwhile, Machine Gun Kelly fans took to Twitter to air their grievances. One of the superstar’s fans wrote, “Why did nobody know @machinegunkelly on @Jeaopardy. They must not have good taste in music lol.”

Perhaps as the competition ensues, our “Jeopardy!” contestants will have additional chances to review their new knowledge of Machine Gun Kelly. Nevertheless, the total flop from the Monday episode did not appear to have a major affect on current game show champ, Amy Schneider’s run.

Amy Schneider Continues to Make ‘Jeopardy!’ History

Amy Schneider’s participation in “Jeopardy!” has been historic in itself, however, her 18-game winning streak has furthered her popularity. That said, she’s now become the highest-earning woman to ever feature on the beloved game show, knocking aside the previous record held by Larissa Kelly.

While Kelly previously remained the game show’s top female record-holder with a final score of $655,930, Scheider has far surpassed that. As of Christmas Eve, Schneider topped the former record-holder and continues to make history.

Currently, the game show contestant’s total earnings amount to $706,800. For now, it puts Schneider as the fourth-place record holder for overall earnings. However, she’ll need to reach an impressive $1.5 million total to top our most recent record-holder, Matt Amodio.

Nevertheless, as “Jeopardy!” has endured some less than positive headlines this year, Schneider’s been aiming to use her win-streak to again draw positive attention to the hit game show.

Previously, Schneider shared her thoughts specifically regarding the Mike Richards scandal. She stated, “I think that it’s disappointing to see such an institution be a little bit tarnished. It was not fun to witness.”

Now, however, during her record run, she continued, “I do feel like it’s getting back on its feet. I think Ken [Jennings has been] a great host.”
