The World Series, NBA Playoffs, and Super Bowl draw in millions of viewers for a reason. People love to see top competitors clash to see who is the best of the best. The same is true for Jeopardy! fans. Some fans of the show want to see three of the best players take the stage in an all-out trivia brawl.
Currently, Matt Amodio ranks third in Jeopardy! wins. As a result, fans mention his name among the pantheon of the show’s best. One fan of the show took to Reddit to suggest a clash of champions style matchup between James Holzhauer, Ken Jennings, and Amodio. For fans, watching those three compete would be amazing. At the same time, playing against some of the show’s greatest contestants would probably make Amodio’s day.
Redditor Ozovzk made a post titled “How would you feel about a special with Matt, James, and Ken?” on r/Jeopardy. In the post, the Redditor noted that they are not a “superfan,” of the show and realizes that the question may seem like it came out of left field. At the same time, they noted that such a match might be, “a bit premature since Matt’s run is still ongoing.”
However, their focus isn’t on the show’s structure. This fan just thinks it would be fun to watch “the three most dominant players go head to head in a one-off outside of ToC (Tournament of Champions).”
They posed an interesting scenario and Jeopardy! fans would probably love to see it. However, some other Redditors who were a little more well-versed in the show chimed in to crush all of our dreams.
Why the Dream Jeopardy! Match Probably Won’t Happen
The top comment on the thread comes from Redditor Square3481. They admitted that watching those Jeopardy! greats go at it would be fun. Then, they went on to highlight the reasons it probably wouldn’t happen. “Unfortunately, Ken can no longer compete as he’s now part of the show’s staff.” They noted that Jennings is both a part-time host and a consulting producer on the show.
Additionally, they pointed out that we probably won’t see James back on the show again. “As for James, he’s probably burned his bridges by openly critiquing Mike Richards and the upper management at Sony Pictures Television.”
James Holzhauer did take to Twitter several times to roast Mike Richards and call out Sony’s management. So, there’s a good chance they wouldn’t want him back on the show.
Another Redditor said, “I feel like Ken has proven himself as the GOAT and a James/Matt/ someone else would be a better format, with Ken as host.” Other commenters feel that the “someone else,” should be Brad Rutter.
We’ll probably never see the three Jeopardy! contestants with the longest winning streaks compete. However, it would make for one heck of a game.
