Actress Mayim Bialik seems to be having a blast as the temporary “Jeopardy!” host, as you can see from this behind-the-scenes pic.
The game show’s official Twitter account posted it early this morning after current champion Jonathan Fisher secured his third win. In the slightly blurry photo, Bialik walks towards the new champ as he grins over his podium. It seems like he still can’t believe he’s come this far on the legendary trivia show.
“It’s all smiles for @missmayim and Jonathan Fisher on the Jeopardy! stage after his 3rd win!” the official “Jeopardy!” account tweeted.
Fisher recently beat the record-breaking Matto Amodio, whose 38-day winning streak came to an end on Monday. People thought Amodio might make it all the way to “Jeopardy!” GOAT Ken Jennings’ record (74), but he had an off day on Monday. Plus, Fisher and fellow competitor Jessica Stephens played fiercely, giving Amodio a true challenge and a (literal) run for his money.
After winning three games, Fisher now has $70,000 in the bag. We’ll see if his streak continues, although the current “Jeopardy!” champ already admitted he didn’t expect to make it this far.
“I was expecting to do one show and have a great experience, and go home,” Jonathan said in an exclusive “Jeopardy!” interview. “So, hopefully, I can kind of keep it going and see, but honestly it’s probably not going to get better than that first show.”
Looks like Fisher, an actor from Coral Gables, Florida, will have to take more time off to see his “Jeopardy!” run-through.
Fans Call for Mayim Bialik to Become Permanent Host on ‘Jeopardy!’
After “Jeopardy!” posted the behind-the-scenes pics of Bialik and Fisher smiling, several fans took to the comments to share their love for the temporary host.
Bialik started hosting the game show in August after recently appointed executive producer Mike Richards stepped down from the job. Controversial comments cast a negative light on his appointment, causing Richards to lose his job as a permanent host and executive producer.
So, Bialik stepped in to tape as many episodes as she could. Soon, we’ll see Ken Jennings on our screens as well, since he and Bialik soon switched off on hosting different weeks. Sony Pictures Television continues to search for a permanent host, but they may have found it in Bialik.
“Absolutely love Mayim as host great choice,” one fan commented on Twitter. “She is a natural fit.”
“I think Mayim brings a lot of personality to the show. Good job,” another user responded to the pic.
One fan even directly asked, “Keep @missmayim as permanent host, please!”
We’ll find out soon enough who Sony picks to be the new host for the game show.
