Another night and another win for Jeopardy! champion Amy Schneider who has now earned more than $1 million, the most of any woman ever on the show.
Her streak has surpassed 28 games now, and she has earned $1.02 million in the process. She has a higher score per game than Ken Jennings and Matt Amodio. She is the fourth most winning contestant in win totals as well as money earned.
There are only three legends in front of Schneider now. Jennings, James Holzhauer, and Amodio. They each have more wins and more money than her, for now. There doesn’t seem to be anything in her way at this point. She is going to continue her run on Jeopardy! on Monday.
During her run on the show, Schneider has been very impressive. It isn’t just the wins and the money. The Dayton, Ohio native and current Oakland, California resident has been fun, interesting, friendly, and a quick fan favorite.
As the first transgender contestant to qualify for the tournament of champions, she is also an inspiration to many. While she is proud of her identity and being a trans woman, Schneider has been intent on proving that she’s more than just a label. Her run on Jeopardy! has definitely helped with that.
The ‘Pinch-Me’ Moment for Amy Schneider
It has been a wild ride for the Jeopardy! champion, but the ride isn’t over yet. Schneider still has more to go. Perhaps she will have a much longer journey than we even think now. Holzhauer’s win total is just four games away. Amodio is just ten games. And Jennings… well, let’s worry about the other two first.
When it comes to surreal moments for the champ, she hasn’t had many. However, there have been some notable ones along the way.
“Just seeing myself on TV still is almost a shock,” Schneider said to the AP. “Even though I was there when it all happened. I thought I could win some games but I didn’t think I would do this well. The other day, my girlfriend mentioned some famous people that had gone to her high school, and I was thinking, “I know there was somebody who went to mine.” I looked it up on Wikipedia and there I was, listed under notable alumni. That was a very weird moment to see that.”
‘Jeopardy!’ Tournament of Champions Will Be Exciting
The tournament of champions this year is going to be one to remember. Not only will it feature Schneider if she chooses to compete, but it could also feature Matt Amodio. To have a tournament with two potential 30-game winners would be amazing.
Jeopardy! always does a great job highlighting the great talent on the show. It is going to be a good time when the TOC comes around.
