Cohen, who won the Tournament of Champions and guest-hosted for the show earlier this year, is a fan favorite from the game show. And apparently, he’s a big fan of Amodio’s, who just keeps killing record after record.
Last night, Cohen tweeted about the current “Jeopardy!” champion, who apparently haunts Cohen in his sleep. “Had my first @AmodioMatt dream last night… extremely unsettling turn of events,” the guest host wrote on Twitter.
Amodio wasted no time replying to the tweet in hilarious and epic fashion. “I think they make a pill for that now,” the champion wrote.
“Jeopardy!” fans got a kick out of Amodio’s response. Several of them replied to his tweet asking for the name of this specific pill. Others provided their own guesses, including the clever, “Amodium.”
Either way, we’re likely all going to be dreaming about Amodio soon enough. His run on “Jeopardy!” is already legendary and could prove to be the best we’ve ever seen. He’s snagged 38 wins so far, just reaching the halfway point to get to Ken Jennings’ 74 wins. Amodio also raked in over $1.5 million in winnings, just one million shy of Jennings’ other record.
But once he (potentially) smashes through the game show’s leaderboard, Amodio has another goal in mind. He recently reached out to one of his celebrity idols on Twitter to ask if they’d be able to meet once Amodio wins 75 matches on “Jeopardy!”.
‘Jeopardy!’ Champion Matt Amodio Really, Really Wants to Meet Stephen Colbert
Earlier this week, Amodio tweeted an adorable photo of his puppies, one of whom he named after his celebrity idol. It’s none other than late-night talk show host Stephen Colbert, and apparently, Amodio is desperate to meet him.
Amodio made his case on Twitter, tagging Colbert in the message. “When my parents let me name our dog, I picked Colbert. @stephenathome has made me laugh nonstop from Strangers With Candy… to the Daily Show… to the Report,” Amodio begins in his caption.
“Also, I watch @colbertlateshow. If I can get to 75 #Jeopardy wins, do you think he will talk Middle Earth with me?” Amodio concluded. Apparently, both Colbert and Amodio are huge “Lord of the Rings” fans.
There’s been no word from the late-night talk show host yet, but Amodio hasn’t given up hope. He followed up his original message with another one to try and get the idea trending.
“#AmodioOnColbert I think if we yell loud enough, even @stephenathome will hear us on @colbertlateshow and talk Tolkien to me on #LSSC,” Amodio wrote. “But I just learned we don’t need permission from @jack to start a hashtag, so let’s just do it ourselves #Colbert#[email protected]”
