“Delighted that [Mayim Bialik] and I will be with you all season on Jeopardy!” Jennings declared in his post on Wednesday (December 8th). The Jeopardy! crew recently revealed, “We are delighted to let you know our excellent ad experience team in front of and behind the camera will continue into 2022.”
The longtime game show also stated that Bialik and Jennings will continue to share hosting duties through the end of its 38th season. Michael Davies will notably remain as executive producer.
Jennings’ followers also sounded off to the exciting Jeopardy! news. “I LOVE when you host. You’re quick and sharp,” one follower stated. “I’d love it if afterwords you tweet the questions you didn’t know. Bam: extra learning and drinking games :). And I want to see if I can outsmart you on a question.”
Another Jeopardy! fan went on to add, “So happy you’ll still be part of the show, Ken! You’re a natural stand-in for Alex. You and Mayim will ensure the show we love will continue as Alex would have wanted.”
Ken Jennings Describes ‘Jeopardy’ Hosting Gig As ‘Tricky’
During a recent interview with Newsweek, Ken Jennings spoke about taking on the Jeopardy! Hosting gig. “It’s a very tricky job,” Jennings admitted. He also said that the mechanics of hosting the show are daunting.
“There’s a lot going on at once and Alex [Trebek] made it all look so easy. But I can tell you firsthand. It’s not easy.”
Jennings also spoke about taking over Jeopardy! hosting duties a couple of months after Trebek passed away. “I was just terrified. And I think rightfully so. I mean, Alex had just barely passed, and really no one else had hosted the show since 1974. Like, literally, in my lifetime.”
Earlier this year, Jennings spoke to MyEdmondsNews about Jeopardy! having a permanent host next year. “I’m not being coy. I don’t know who [the host] is. Jeopardy! And Wheel of Fortune are multimillion-dollar properties for Sony TV. Those things just print money. And they are going to take this decision very seriously.”
Jennings also stated at the time that he’s starting to feel comfortable about his own Jeopardy! hosting duties. “I think with time I am starting to figure this out.”
Originally, Mike Richards was set to be the permanent host of Jeopardy! but he eventually decided to pass on the opportunity after comments he made on his podcast years ago resurfaced. Since Richards’ departure, Jennings and Bialik have been teaming up for hosting duties. Bialik will present Jeopardy! National College Championship next year.
