“Jeopardy!” host Ken Jennings poked fun at himself on Twitter on Wednesday. Jennings shared on Twitter that he and Mayim Bialik will share hosting duties for “Jeopardy!” for the remainder of its current season.
The original tweet containing the announcement from the official Jeopardy account tweeted, “We are delighted to let you know our excellent and experienced team in front of and behind the camera will continue into 2022: @missmayim [Mayim Bialik] and @kenjennings [Ken Jennings] will share hosting duties through the end of #Jeopardy! Season 38, and Michael Davies will remain as executive producer.”
Ken Jennings Takes a Playful Jab at Himself
Ken Jennings quote tweeted the post to his personal account, adding his own comment. “Delighted that @missmayim and I will be with you all season on #Jeopardy!,” Jennings tweeted. The tweet featured a photo of Bialik and a photo of Jennings side by side, with Jennings making a goofy face in the middle of laughter.
Jennings then poked fun at his expression, replying to his tweet with an added comment saying, “What contestant witticisms will make me do the weird chuckle pictured above? Tune in and see!”
‘Jeopardy!’ Fans Sound Off
Bialik recently took over hosting duties temporarily as she is hosting the Professors Tournament, which is set to finish on 12/17. Upon completion of the tournament, Jennings and Bialik will alternate hosting duties, at least until the end of the season. Fans online seem to be pretty divided when it comes to which host they favor, with some fans loving both. Many shared their thoughts on the news in the replies of both the Jeopardy! Account’s post, as well as the post shared from Jennings personally.
One fan wrote, “So happy to see this. I can’t imagine two more perfect people to fill the big shoes of Alex.” Another chimed in, saying “You’re both great at hosting the game!”
However, not everyone seems to feel that way. One fan wrote, “Yay for Ken hosting! He has the grace to make every contestant feel valued and welcome and to deal with wrong responses artfully. His long history with Jeopardy shows every time he hosts. Mayim not so much.”
Another fan chimed in explaining that they prefer to watch when Mayim is hosting. Their tweet reads, “Mayim is a terrific host, she brightens up the show.. stop the rude comments, referring to her wardrobe, etc., Not a fashion show..she looks just fine. Why no comments on a man’s hair, clothing, etc.? She is an experienced actress..don’t refer to her as the ‘lady’, she has a name.”
Meanwhile, some viewers of the show just want everyone to focus on the positive. One user wrote of the situation, “I think that Ken’s has been amazing so far. Much prefer his overall style, tone, and commentary. I’m not a fan of all the negativity between both of the hosts from different people though, they both have their pros and cons, and everyone seems to have their favorite.”
Only time will tell who will host Jeopardy next season, or if responsibilities will be split between multiple hosts once again.
