‘Jeopardy!’ Star Ken Jennings Regrets ‘Nothing’ About Show’s ‘Pro-Nickelback Stance’

by Shelby Scott

Since their inception, the alternative rock group, Nickelback, has received a lot of criticism regarding their sound and style. Typically, when the group starts trending on social media, especially here in 2022, it’s because critics have found new ways to nail the band. However, in a recent episode of “Jeopardy!” host Ken Jennings revealed his very pro-Nickelback stance, for which he regrets “nothing.” Check out the clip below.

From the start, the clip captures current champ, Amy Schneider completely dominating the “Billboard Top 200 Albums in 2021” category. Without missing a beat, she hits artists from Drake to Olivia Rodrigo. However, she gets stumped on one Nickelback question, and when fellow contestant, Harsh, steals the question and the winnings, there’s not a hint of hesitation in his answer.

“Yes! Nickelback,” Jennings confirms, “Never the incorrect response.”

While I personally have no stakes in the ever-developing Nickelback debate, it’s definitely a touchy subject. Therefore, the “Jeopardy!” host’s “pro-Nickelback stance” may seem a little direct, especially for what he terms “the quiz show of record.”

Simultaneously, “Jeopardy!” viewers took to the comments to share their thoughts, and opinions were much divided.

One fan wrote, “Love Nickelback and jumped on that answer immediately! Your response was spot on.” Just below, another countered, “Most controversial opinion of 2022.”

From this episode alone, we can tell there will always be major division when it comes to Nickelback and Nickelback-centric trivia.

‘Jeopardy!’ Host Believes She Would Not be a Good Contestant

Currently, “Jeopardy!” is going about its hosting dilemma in a method we haven’t seen before as game show GOAT Ken Jennings and “Big Bang Theory” actress Mayim Bialik share duties. Further, their experiences on the show vary drastically. While Jennings has now been on both sides of the podium, Bialik only knows “Jeopardy!” from the position of host.

With that said, she revealed in speaking on Live with Kelly and Ryan that she likely wouldn’t make a good “Jeopardy!” contestant. Here’s why.

“If there’s a science category,” the host began, obviously she would have some advantage. That, and she also boasts a unique familiarity with biblical history. “But other than that,” she continued, “the kind of knowledge these contestants have, it is so phenomenal. It’s so specific.”

The admired host further shared that it’s the timing with which contestants answer questions that she would struggle. “If you give me 10 minutes, I could maybe figure out a question.”

Whether that’s an exaggeration or not, we can’t be sure. However, she insisted, “It’s doing it under pressure. With all that stuff going on, it is an extra set of skill just to be able to hit that little button.”
