After the news came out on the tragic, sudden death of longtime NFL star wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, folks from all over have been sent out beautiful and heartfelt messages about him and for his family. It is truly a devastating loss to so many folks who knew and loved Thomas.
It hit so many folks hard, including Jessie James Decker, the wife of longtime NFL wideout and Thomas’s former teammate Eric Decker, who put together a beautiful message about the relationship between Eric Demaryius Thomas.
In the post, she included the words, “When we got the call last night I dropped to my knees and I couldn’t believe it. I don’t think I’ve ever cried so hard in my life and the tears just won’t stop. I’ve never seen Eric like this before, his heart is in pieces. We loved Demaryius like he was family. The relationship he and Eric had was beautiful and special. His heart, his infectious smile, his kindness, his soul. Eric and Demaryius were truly like brothers and anyone that was around them could feel how special their friendship was together on and off the field. I don’t know if we will ever truly heal from this one.”
The Deckers And Demaryius Thomas’ Bond
The Deckers were obviously very close to Demaryius Thomas and viewed him as family. Eric and Demaryius were also quite close, as Decker points out in the Instagram post. The duo went through a lot together and it is incredibly tough to read how much this loss hurts in the Decker household.
Decker continued in the post, “I will cherish the beautiful memories we all had together in Denver and I know he will be looking down on all of us from heaven. Demaryius was a man of faith which is why he would quote almost every single day ‘Thank God for another day.'”
She concluded, “DT we love you so much and we’re grateful for the years we had together. We will miss you.”
Peyton Manning on The Loss of His Former Teammate
Demaryius Thomas seemed to be beloved by everyone he came in contact with in the league. Especially the Deckers, but also Peyton Manning, a former Denver Broncos quarterback who shined with Thomas on the field that resulted in a Super Bowl.
Manning said via the Broncos’ official website, “D.T. was a better person than he was a player, and he was a Hall of Fame player,” “That tells you how good of a person he was. He treated my kids like they were his own. He was there for every teammate’s charity event. I texted with D.T. on Tuesday. He was talking about a TD audible we called vs. Arizona in 2014. Absolutely devastated.”
Heartbreaking all across the board as Demaryius Thomas will be mourned and missed by so many.
