Kevin Hart Will Portray a Classic Sitcom Character in Upcoming Special

Famous funnyman Kevin Hart is set to play an iconic sitcom character in an upcoming ABC special.

The longtime comedian, actor, and movie star will be portraying the late Gary Coleman as Arnold Jackson in an upcoming special.

This special will highlight much of the well-known drama surrounding the popular 1980s sitcom Diff’rent Strokes, on which Coleman starred.

The special aims to bring audiences back to the good-ole days of sitcoms. Recreating popular episodes featured in the iconic sitcom series during its run many years ago.

‘Diff’rent Strokes’ Brings Us An All-Star Cast Along With Kevin Hart

ABC has announced in a recent press release, that the network plans to air the ninety-minute Diff’rent Strokes special titled Live in Front of a Studio Audience on Tuesday, December 7.

Longtime actor John Lithgow will be joining Kevin Hart in the upcoming episode, along with Damon Wayans.

John Lithgow has been a part of the Hollywood scene for a number of years.

The longtime actor can be seen in some of our favorite prime-time television shows such as Third Rock From the Sun and How I Met Your Mother.

Lithgow stars most recently in the Dexter reboot television mini-series, Dexter New Blood.

Lithgow portrays Mr. Drummond in the upcoming ABC Diff’rent Strokes episode.

Damon Wayans is well-known for his wild comedic antics. Wayans has starred on some favorite shows such as In Living Color and My Wife and Kids.

Additionally, the actor and comedian starred alongside Adam Sandler in the hit film Bulletproof.

Wayans will portray Kevin Hart’s Arnold Jackson’s older brother, Willis Jackson in the upcoming ABC throwback episode.

Bringing Television Audiences Back To The Good Ole’ Days

This is not the first time ABC has aired a Live in Front of a Studio Audience special.

Other classic sitcoms featured in this “blast-from-the-past” series have included All In the Family, Good Times, and The Jeffersons.

In addition to Diff’rent Strokes, the upcoming December 7 edition of Live in Front of a Studio Audience will feature a recreation – or re-enactment – of the popular Diff’rent Strokes spin-off The Facts of Life.

Diff’rent Strokes first captured audiences when it premiered in 1978. The show continued successfully for a number of years, finally going off the air in 1986.

The Facts of Life had a similar life-span, hitting the airwaves in 1979. The series aired until the series’s 1988 end in season nine.

In addition to the addition of Kevin Hart to the all-star cast, Norman Lear is set to produce this upcoming episode. Executive producers for the show include Will Ferrell, Jimmy Kimmel, Justin Theroux, and Kerry Washington.
