Law & Order actress Odelya Halevi joined the cast of the show for its upcoming revival, alongside franchise veterans Anthony Anderson and Sam Waterston. Other cast members include Jeffrey Donovan, Hugh Dancy, and Camryn Manheim.

“So thrilled to join the @wolfentertainment family!!” the actress posted at the time of her casting.

Prior to Law & Order, Halevi had recurring roles on both Good Trouble and Good Girls Revolt. Additionally, the actress has guest-starred on New Girl, Mike and Molly, Midnight, Texas, NCIS, MacGyver, and Why Women Kill. She is slated to appear with Dwayne Johnson in the DC film Black Adam.

As for the rest of the cast and crew, they share Halevi’s excitement. Dick Wolf, the creator of the Law & Order franchise, said: “This will be Season 21, so it’s the same ‘Law & Order’ everyone knows from the first 20 years. So there’s really nothing to fix, we just want to continue telling great stories. Casting as always will be three cops and three D.A.s.”

Additionally, series star Anderson shared that he return of the show “means a great deal” to him. “They’re bringing the show back and billing it as their 21st year … full circle is what it is, and it’s a good thing,” the Black-ish star added.

Law & Order is quite simply one of the most iconic shows in television history, and the idea of continuing its legacy and partnering with Dick on an all-new season is nothing short of exhilarating,” explained Susan Rovner, chairman of entertainment content at NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. “This is great news for NBC as well as TV fans everywhere.”

Law & Order: the Returning Actor Who Plays a Different Role

Arguably the most excited for the return of Law & Order is Camryn Manheim. Shortly after the news hit, she, like Halevi, posted an impassioned response.

“I am over the moon to be joining the cast of Law & Order as Lt. Kate Dixon,” wrote Manheim. “My very first job on television was on Law & Order, so it feels like I’m coming home. New York, here I come!”

While this is Manheim’s first time in a starring role on Law & Order, the actress guest-starred several times before. Her first appearance was in 1991, when she played a character called Leila an episode called “Life Choice,” which followed the case of a women’s rights advocate who died in a bombing at an abortion clinic. She then played Martha Rollins in the episode, “Benevolence,” which solved the murder of a young girl who was hard of hearing. Her last role prior to being cast as a regular was neglectful foster mother Beatrice Hines in the episode “Nurture.”

Now, she steps into the role of Lieutenant. Her character replaces that of S. Epath Merkerson, a critical and fan favorite. Will she measure up? Find out when Law & Order returns to NBC in February.
