‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’: Dylan McDermott Gets Short End of Stick from Costars in Hilarious On-Set Video

by Kati Michelle

So, “Law & Order” fans. We’re mere hours away from tonight’s highly-anticipated crossover event between “Law & Order: SVU” and “Law & Order: Organized Crime.” All eyes are on Dylan McDermott as he brings back his wicked Richard Wheatley character. He’s clever, charming, and dangerous. He is a menace to the whole of New York as much as Elliot Stabler or Olivia Benson individually.

Co-stars like Tamara Taylor (who plays his ex-wife) describe him as a different kind of menace when the cameras stop rolling. As opposed to planning hits and poisonings like his penultimate villain character, the star spends his downtime planning harmless hoodwinks and hijinks. “He looks for where he can amuse himself,” she says. That couldn’t be any clearer with McDermott’s latest tweet.

It’s Game, Seat, Match for the ‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Star

It’s that signature smirk and that slight twinkle of his eye. Dylan McDermott knows how to play up his subtle charm. Like his past Instagram bit channeling Jon Voight, the star has blessed us with yet another brilliant “short film.” You can watch him hilariously get the short end of the stick with his co-stars here:

The camera angles, the soundtrack—I mean, the production value of this thing should be commended alone. And the sad ending almost makes you forget the fact that he killed Stabler’s wife. Or did he? Barba might argue that whoever did his bidding is actually responsible.

One mega-fan commented, saying they were “HOWLING.” While they may have taken some creative liberties here, that might be the actual result after tonight’s two-hour event. According to Danielle Mone Truitt (who plays Sergeant Bell), “The whole episode is going to be a shock to the audience because it’s not going to go in the direction that you think.” You can read the Ayanna Bell actor’s statement in full here.

An Instagram Takeover

Shortly after Dylan McDermott shared his tomfoolery, the official “Law & Order” account shared a video of their own. It shows McDermott in character as Richard Wheatley fit with an orange jumpsuit and a pair of cuffs. The video lets fans know that McDermott/Wheatley is hopping on the show’s official Instagram account for a takeover. This typically means sharing exclusive behind-the-scenes content and sharing a live reaction to the show as fans watch along in real-time. In other words, you’ll want to head over there if you can’t get enough Dylan McDermott content. We can’t really say we blame you.
