Appearing on an episode of Law & Order is a right of passage for any actor. And Val Kilmer’s son, Jack, added his name to that very long list of guest stars last night.
It’s the first time Jack Kilmer graced the Law & Order franchise, but he’s been an actor for several years. But the 26-year-old has appeared in several TV shows and films including The Nice Guys and Lords of Chaos, according to IMDb. While he’s putting together a solid resume for such a young actor, he’s best known for playing his dad — or at least his voice — in the documentary Val.
Val Kilmer survived throat cancer, but the treatments left his voice permanently damaged. So, for the award-winning documentary about his life and career, Jack Kilmer stepped in as the narrator. He sounds so much like his famous father that viewers don’t realize that it’s Jack and not Val speaking in the film until the end.
Val Kilmer continues to act despite his disability. He’ll reprise his role as Iceman in the Top Gun sequel next year.
‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Cast Troll ‘SVU’ Over 500th Episode
Law & Order: SVU aired its landmark 500th episode on Thursday. Only Gunsmoke has produced more scripted, live-action shows. Though SVU has aired for more seasons than the beloved western. (The Simpsons holds the record for most scripted episodes of a television show with more than 700)
Many former stars from the show’s 23-season run made cameos in the milestone episode. Though pandemic protocols meant producers had to limit the number of them who could film new scenes. The show still managed to pack in a lot of cameos, including Dann Florek (Capt. Cragen) and Tamara Tunie (Medical Examiner Melinda Warner).
Law & Order: SVU producers threw a giant party to commemorate the achievement, with Mariska Hargitay lighting 500 candles on a cake.
But the cast of Law & Order: Organized Crime didn’t want to feel left out. So, the cast has had some fun at the expense of their L&O brethren.
Organized Crime star Christopher Meloni, who starred on SVU for 11 seasons, posted a video on Instagram wishing his former co-star “Marsha” a happy 500th birthday, or “whatever.”
“Marsha, hey, I heard you’re turning 500 today or something,” he jokes. “Wow, that’s a lot of candles, happy birthday — anniversary? Whatever it is, congrats.”
She looks great for someone who just missed seeing Christopher Columbus reach the New World.
