‘Law & Order: SVU’ Alum BD Wong Is Thankful for the Rainbow in New Photo

by Anna Dunn

Law & Order: SVU alumni BD wong just posted a colorful new photo to Instagram. The actor played Dr. George Huang on the hit procedural series. Huang was the psychiatrist in charge of helping the officers process what they had to deal with in the field. He last appeared in the series in 2015.

The new picture is from his hometown in San Francisco, California. There’s a gorgeous rainbow peeking over the mountains.

“A very few minutes ago in my hometown, y’all. Fog, leather daddies, the best Chinese food anywhere, and these. The OG,” he wrote.

BD Wong’s character, George Huang, was a critical part of the SVU for years. He made his first appearance on Law & Order: SVU in 2001. Before his time as a psychiatrist for the unit, he served as the profiler and occasional translator for the department. Huang was also the first openly gay member of the SVU.

Huang was a firm believer in human rights, and this often made him butt heads with Elliot Stabler, who occasionally used questionable methods on suspects.

B.D Wong also has had vital roles in Jurrasic Park, Mulan, Mr. Robot, and Gotham.

The show has since continued without Wong and is about to continue its 23rd total season on air.

‘Law & Order: SVU’ Season 23 Picks Back Up in January

After closing out 2021 with a crossover event with Law & Order: Organized Crime, Law & Order: SVU is set to return on Thursday, January 6th. The show still stars Mariska Hargitay whose been on the series since its start in 1999. Also still at the helm is Ice T, who joined not long after Hargitay.

But interestingly, due to scheduling, the new episode that airs on January 6th will actually be a Christmas episode as well. But it’ll be anything but Jolly. The episode, titled Silent Night, Hateful Night will follow the team investigating a string of hate crimes.

“The SVU is called in to help investigate a wave of hate crimes on Christmas Eve. Rollins [ played by Kelli Giddish] catches up with an old flame,” the synopsis reads.

On the personal front, it’ll be an interesting episode for Rollins, who recently entered a highly-anticipated relationship with her co-worker, Carisi. How this “old flame” will play out in regards to her new relationship is something fans of the two will want to keep an eye on.

Law & Order: SVU‘s return on January 6th is followed immediately by the return of Law & Order: Organized Crime which stars former SVU actor Chris Meloni as Detective Elliot Stabler. If you’re a fan of these shows, their post-hiatus returns won’t be episodes you’ll want to miss.
