Unbelievably, it has been 22 years since Law & Order: SVU first premiered. Since then, America has fallen in love and can’t get enough. The show heads into yet another season this Fall and the stars are celebrating. Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay shared selfies on social media to commemorate the anniversary.

Meloni and Hargitay are just about as close as their characters are on the show. Well, maybe not that close. However, the two often share photos of hanging out with one another. After working so many years with one another it is no wonder why the two have grown such a strong friendship. These new selfies on Instagram are just the latest example.

Chris Meloni shared a couple of pictures on his page.

“Well, this happened on the 22nd anniversary of us/svu,” Meloni wrote in the post. He was joined in one picture by Mariska Hargitay and the second was a bit of a family portrait. It featured not only Hargitay but also Ellen Burstyn. Burstyn of course plays Bernadette Stabler, Elliott’s mom in the show.

Meanwhile over on Hargitay’s page, she shared just one photo. It showed her and Meloni together for a fun picture.

“22 years ago today SVU premiered!” the post read with a bunch of hashtags after. “…so grateful and proud of the stories that we get to tell,” the end of the caption read.

These costars make fans excited for the new season and Law & Order: Organized Crime. There has been a lot of hype behind the season and it looks like it is going to deliver on the drama.

‘Law & Order: SVU’ Trailer Got Fans Talking

Ahead of the double-header premiere of both Law & Order: SVU and Organized Crime the official trailer had fans talking. It featured a lot of hard-hitting scenes as well as a goosebumps-inducing voiceover from Stabler and Olivia Benson.

Viewers really got excited after the trailer ended with the two detectives holding hands. There has long been a set of fans that want the two to be romantically involved. However, whether that comes true remains to be seen. There are going to be wild stories, plenty of drama, and new criminals to catch.

Elliott Stabler is going to be back and the potential for crossovers all Fall is there. 22 years after the first episode, Law & Order: SVU continues to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Get ready because the new season is coming this week. Make plans for this Thursday at 8 PM EST. It is going to be one worth watching.
