‘Law & Order: SVU’: Did ‘Criminal Intent’ Star Jeff Goldblum Ever Appear on Show?

by Joe Rutland

Actor Jeff Goldbum made some appearances on “Criminal Intent,” Outsiders, but did he ever make an appearance on “Law & Order: SVU”?

Let’s take a look and see.

Apparently, Goldblum has never faced the stoic face of Sergeant Olivia Benson, played by Mariska Hargitay.

On “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” the “Jurassic Park” actor played Zack Nichols. The character was in 24 episodes between 2009-10. These days, you can catch him appearing in TV advertisements for an apartment search website.

Just because he’s never been on “SVU” doesn’t mean that he will not show up. There’s plenty of time and “SVU” isn’t going anywhere. That show just celebrated its 500th episode on NBC and still goes strong with Hargitay, Ice-T, and others holding it down.

Catch “Law & Order: SVU” on Thursdays at 9 p.m. Eastern, 8 p.m. Central. It’s the lead-in for “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” starring Chris Meloni, at 10 p.m. Eastern, 9 p.m. Central, on NBC.

‘Law & Order: SVU’ Star Danny Pino Talks About How Amaro, Rollins Acted As They Did

Speaking of that 500th episode that aired on Thursday, Oct. 31, Danny Pino returned to “Law & Order: SVU” to reprise his role as Detective Nick Amaro.

Well, we get a chance to see Amaro connect with an old flame, Detective Amanda Rollins, played by Kelli Giddish.

Amaro and Rollins have hinted in the past about being interested in each other. Romantically speaking, of course.

But they didn’t seem too comfortable bringing up old times. So, what was going down here? Pino offers up some information when talking with TV Line in an interview.

He said there was a lot left vague and done so with intent.

Pino said it was his “understanding […] is that we [Amaro and Rollins] kind of have touched base in terms of ‘What are you up to professionally?'”

Amaro Finds Himself Chatting With Carisi Jr. In Scene That didn’t Make Episode

So, Outsiders, Amaro is back in grad school where he’s studying genetics and forensic science. His new employer is named Forum, and they take cold cases and look at all the evidence.

Well, what about relationship stuff in Thursday’s episode? What happened there?

“I think that Amaro would have been way too sensitive to bring up their relationship,” Pino said. “And maybe she [Rollins] would feel the same way.”

Amaro had another interesting interaction with Dominick Carisi Jr., played by Peter Scanavino.

Well, both of them had an interaction that did not make the cut on the special episode.

What happened in that scene? Well, it features Amaro chatting it up with Carisi Jr. They start talking about expert witness testimony when, well, they start talking about old times. Why the awkwardness? Carisi is in a relationship with Rollins. Yep, Amaro’s old flame.
