Which Law & Order: SVU character would you want to see on the other side of the interrogation table? SVU fans debated on Reddit which detective they’d think would be most understanding of their story and situation, and the results are quite varied.
The choices were: Elliott Stabler (Christopher Meloni), Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), Odafin Tutuola (Ice-T), Nick Amaro (Danny Pino), Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish) or Dominick Carisi (Peter Scanavino).
Obviously, there’s no right or wrong answer to the question. Really, it depends on the “perpetrator’s” personality and how they interact with others. Each of the Law & Order: SVU characters have their strengths and weaknesses. And, if you know them well enough, you might be able to sway their opinion of you. The author of the Reddit post even came up with the scenario that “the crime is attempted rape and you did it but your trying to make yourself innocent.”
The most popular option?
“Carisi. He’s the most empathetic and respectful to the rule of law. Which as a suspect I would want,” one fan wrote.
Thirty-six other Law & Order: SVU fans agreed with this decision.
Another fan concurred, “I think Carisi has the best record of not roughing suspects up or talking about how they’re gonna get raped in jail? So him.”
A third fan voted for Tutuola, instead, noting, “He tends to listen to the story and not get hot headed. I have a fairer chance of them hearing my story.”
Eleven others agreed with this user.
‘Law & Order: SVU’ Fans Do Not Want These Two Detectives to Interrogate Them
Surprisingly, for as popular as Detective Benson (and the actor behind her) is with fans, no one wanted her to be in charge of their interrogation.
Perhaps Law & Order: SVU fans felt that she is too intense in that small room with the two-way mirror, or maybe they felt that she would be harder to persuade. Either way, hardly any fans on the Reddit thread mentioned her name, and if they did, she was at least fourth on their lists.
Meanwhile, only a couple of Law & Order: SVU fans mentioned Stabler, as well. And just like Benson, Stabler has a steady fanbase that has followed him from SVU to Organized Crime. But, looking at his track record with criminals in secluded spots, this isn’t as shocking.
One fan even went so far as to say that “If it’s a crime against children then please keep Stabler away from me.”
Stabler has been notorious for letting his anger take over when crimes hit too close to home. And most of the time, that means a child or young woman was involved in one way or another.
However, there was one fan who wanted to use this weak spot to their advantage.
“Stabler. I’ll play mind games until reach his anger point,” the user wrote.
Now that sounds like something an SVU enemy would say.
