In 23 seasons, plenty of detectives have come and gone through the Special Victims Unit of Law & Order: SVU. Each fan has their own reasons for liking, disliking, or loving the crime-solving characters, but which one is the true fan favorite?
A Redditor named scarlet_speedster985 took it upon themselves to find out. The Law & Order: SVU fan recently posted a poll on Reddit, listing all of the show’s detectives from over the years. There are currently close to 200 votes with a few days remaining.
It shouldn’t come as a massive shock that Mariska Hargitay’s iconic Olivia Benson holds a strong lead with nearly 70 votes. Maybe her popularity has something to do with the fact that she’s still portraying the character to this day.
That brings us to the second-place contender. Richard Belzer’s John Munch has hauled in more than 40 votes thus far. He was an original character, contributing to Law & Order: SVU from 1999 to 2016. And fun fact—Richard Belzer is Happy Days legend Henry Winkler’s cousin. All the more reason to pick Munch as your favorite detective.
Third place is where things start to narrow. Now a fixture on Law & Order: Organized Crime, Chris Meloni’s Elliot Stabler is hanging onto the position with 31 votes. And guess who’s trailing right behind him with 29 of his own? That’s right. It’s Ice-T’s Odafin “Fin” Tutuola.
So who’s left? Well, bear in mind that there are a few days left on this poll. All of these results are subject to change. So the seemingly poor performance of Amaro and Rollins, coming in with 11 and 15 votes respectively, isn’t final.
It’s also important to note that, due to a lack of space, the poll excluded the likes of Lake, Kat, Dodds, and Carisi.
The Official ‘Law & Order: SVU’ Twitter Account Asked Fans Which Character’s Thanksgiving Table They’d Prefer
The person behind the official Law & Order Twitter account must have been feeling festive. And the fans were quick to join in.
Where are you sitting for Thanksgiving?— 𝐋𝐀𝐖 & 𝐎𝐑𝐃𝐄𝐑 (@lawandordertv) November 24, 2021
“Since you’ve separated Mom & Dad I guess that means I’ll be sitting at 4 with the villains,” one fan wrote.
And disappointment in the table arrangements was a common theme throughout the replies. “why you ain’t put Stabler and Benson at the same table???? That’s just rude,” another fan added.
Plenty of others suggested their own preferred table, picking and choosing names to fit their tastes. Where are you sitting?
