Law & Order: SVU stars Mariska Hargitay and Chris Meloni enjoyed a recent dinner with Dick Wolf, as seen in a fun photo. Meloni took to his personal Instagram to post a picture of the three of them.
Meloni captioned the photo with, “WhereItBegan Dinner with Dick Wolf and @therealmariskahargitay OC #SVU.”
Fans loved the photo as well. One fan wrote, “The 3 biggest and best minds from the #lawandorder universe!”
Another fan wrote, “two of her pillars in one picture, that sure does warm my heart.”
Hargitay posted a similar Instagram post on Monday that was a bit more direct as to why the three stars of the Law & Order universe were out dining with one another. Hargitay told folks to be there on Thursday, implying we will see Stabler, Chris Meloni, and Benson back together again very soon.
Why Chris Meloni Left
When Meloni left Law & Order: SVU, it was a tough time for so many fans that had grown attached to the characters of Benson and Stabler. They could not imagine the two not working alongside each other any longer. Another element of this was the question as to why Meloni would leave such a good thing with someone he had as much on-screen chemistry as he did with Hargitay. It was a confusing time.
He told ET, “My thought was: Instead of 22 episodes, bring me back for nine episodes, or bring me back for 18 episodes.” If they were not going to up his price, he wanted to work less, which made sense.
He continued, “They literally came to me on a Thursday night and said, ‘This is the deal. We want the answer by tomorrow. It’s our way or no way.’”
Well, we know how that ended. Meloni did not back down when it came to playing hardball.
He added, “I don’t want to —- around with you guys. This is what I want. If you can’t do it, that’s fine. Let’s figure out my exit.” He was very clear to them about his intentions and what he wanted from his perspective.
Now, Chris Meloni is back in the universe with Law & Order: Organized Crime. He concluded, “This time around with the Law & Order ride, I’m not stressed by: Will it go well? Will it not go well? Not that I know how it’s going to go.”
Chris Meloni’s vibe and perspective had changed. The things that troubled him on the old show no longer seemed to trouble him. His mindset was in a completely different place at this point in time. He said, “Just that, eh, just ride. Just do, just be.”
And that is what he is doing on Law & Order: Organized Crime.
