Mariska Hargitay is an artistic soul. She may play tough Olivia Benson on Law & Order: SVU by day, but on her off time, she discovers rainbows.
Hargitay posted a really cool snap on her Instagram, Sunday. It’s as if her soul melded with a rainbow. As she often does, Hargitay captioned the photo with a series of hashtags. But they tell the story.
“So this just happened #RainbowSkies #SomewhereOverTheRainbow #RainbowDreams #RainbowKiss #LetItRainbow #Rainbow”
She also wrote “#BeARainbowInSomeoneElse’sCloud #ManhattanMagic #TouchedByARainbow #HopeAndPromise #Equality #Love #LoveIsLove #CottonCandySky”
Got all that from the Law & Order: SVU star? Check out Hargitay’s gorgeous snapshot:
Hargitay, continuing in her artsy mode, posted about design, Saturday. She called it “Dahlia Saturday.” She showed a photo of her flower arrangement, which featured shades of dahlias from blush pink to burgundy. And to complete the perfect autumn setting, she placed white gourds around the vase on the table and placed a collection of them in a window. There were other dahlias in the gallery of photos the Law & Order: SVU star posted.
Get Ready For It. Law & Order: SVU Commemorates 500th Episode This Week
Meanwhile, her show is in a sentimental mood this week. That’s because Law & Order: SVU is commemorating its 500th episode this Thursday.
However, episode No. 499 was very forward-thinking, showing how social media can seduce so many people. There was a familiar crime — two brothers raped a woman. They contended it was consensual. The very modern tweak was that everyone involved was a Tik Tok star. The victim first posted a video accusing the two other stars, then took it down after an immediate and harsh reaction. Still, Benson found her.
The jury found the two guys not guilty. But there was a saving twist on this Law & Order: SVU episode. It turns out that the two men bribed a couple of members of the jury, including the foreman, with social media stardom in exchange for a not guilty verdict. They were sentenced to years in prison for jury tampering.
This Thursday, Law & Order: SVU will bring back several former cast members, including Danny Pino, who portrayed Nick Amaro. NBC’s plot summary says that “Amaro asks the SVU for help in clearing a convicted man’s name and brings a figure from Benson’s past back into her life.”
Amaro was a character for 94 Law & Order: SVU episodes. When Pino left the series, Amaro moved to California to be closer to his children.
Burton Lowe (Aidan Quinn) is the figure from Benson’s past. The show explained that Lowe is involved in one of Benson’s cases.
Also, in the trailer, Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) is shown in a flashback. Peter Hermann, Hargitay’s real-life husband, is coming back to reprise his role as a defense attorney. The couple met while working on Law & Order: SVU. They married in August 2004, and have three children.
And, Dann Florek is coming back as Donald Cragen. Stay tuned.
