“Law & Order: SVU” kicked off Season 23 on Thursday night, giving viewers a way for the show to address Mariska Hargitay’s broken leg.
So Hargitay, who plays Sergeant Olivia Benson on the NBC police drama, gets rear-ended by a car and crashes. Benson loses consciousness and finds her way into hallucinating.
One of the hallucinations that she has involves, in a way, her former partner Elliot Stabler, played by Christopher Meloni. We’re going to let you see what was up with him in this tweet from the show’s Twitter feed.
If you have not been keeping up with the leg injury suffered by the “Law & Order: SVU” star, then let’s get you updated.
‘Law & Order: SVU’ Star Has Had Quite A Summer After Suffering Leg Injuries
Back on July 1, she attended a screening of the Marvel movie “Black Widow.” Earlier in the summer, though, Hargitay broke her knee and suffered a torn ligament in another accident. In fact, the “Law & Order: SVU” star had plans to hold an after-party at her home, but she was not there, PopCulture said.
A witness told Page Six that Hargitay slipped on a rain-soaked street after “Black Widow” was over.
“(Mariska Hargitay) was taken to Southampton Hospital by ambulance with her husband Peter Hermann,” Page Six said. “She stayed there for several hours and ended up with a bandaged leg. She didn’t make it back to her house until after midnight when the party had mostly wound down.”
Hargitay, even though the party was happening, found her night stuck in an emergency room.
Show’s Fans Might Buy Into Actor’s Appearance But It All Was A Hallucination
“Law & Order: SVU” fans might be totally wound up after this somewhat interesting interaction between Benson and Stabler. But it didn’t happen as it was just Olivia hallucinating.
About her leg, Hargitay, 57, caused a stir online after she was photographed leaving a New York City hospital. The “Law & Order: SVU” star had a brace on her right knee and another one on her left ankle.
She told fans via Instagram that she just left the hospital after getting an MRI. Doctors told her she had a “broken knee, a hairline fracture in your ankle, and a torn ligament.” Hargitay added that it would not require surgery.
“Law & Order: SVU” kicked off, as we said, Outsiders, its 23rd season on NBC. Hargitay and Ice-T, who plays Sergeant Odafin “Fin” Tutuola, are the longest-tenured actors on that show. Meloni did return to the franchise last season by starring in “Law & Order: Organized Crime.” His second season in that show, where he reprises playing Stabler, kicks off right after “SVU” on Thursday night.
