Losing a beloved pet is never easy. Especially when they’ve been a part of the family for a long time. “Law & Order: SVU” star Ice-T reminds us all how precious love and life is in a new social post.

The TV actor took some time to share a post to his Instagram and Twitter about his family pet which recently passed away. The family man is always candid about his young children and his daily adventures with them. Though this post is a bit on the sad side, it’s a good reminder to cherish all the loved ones in your life.

“‘In life, love is not guaranteed…Only death.’ Hold onto your Loved Ones,” the “Law & Order: SVU” star shares.

As all fans who follow Ice-T may be aware, their sweet dog King Maximus recently passed away. He had battled cancer for more than a year and died this week. The actor took the time to share a picture of the pup with his daughter.

“Awful news.. King Maximus passed away today. He’d been sick for a year with cancer.. He was 10yrs old.. Dog’s lives are far to short… Sad day. @spartandmaxandlex,” the star said in the Instagram post.

Many fans took the time to respond with their condolences and well wishes in the best way they could. Several of them even shared their own experiences with losing a family animal. And truly, dogs are the best of friends – it’s like having another child in the family. So when they must leave us, it’s one of the most heartbreaking experiences to go through.

Hopefully, we all take the “Law & Order: SVU” actor’s advice and hold onto the ones we love.

“Law & Order: SVU” Actor Dubbed ‘Philosopher King’ on Set

While Ice-T is shelling out words of wisdom about life and love, this is no new routine for him. According to several cast members, the actor often gets a bit philosophical while filming. He takes the time to break down scenes and explain them so that others can understand. He does this in a way that’s earned him the nickname “Philosopher King.”

In a recent interview, actress Mariska Hargitay explains how Ice-T got his nickname.

“He goes on his philosopher rants,” she said. “Everyone gathers around because the way he breaks everything down is clear and simple. He takes all the complex and whiny stuff out of it, like, ‘Here’s the deal.’ And in 19 years, I’ve never seen him in a bad mood or raise his voice.”

That’s a pretty great reputation to have as a person and actor. Especially coming from Olivia Benson herself.
