It’s been over 20 years now that Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay has starred on the NBC drama. She has been a staple of modern television playing the role of Olivia Benson. Along with the other universally celebrated Detective Stabler, another long-time co-star of hers was Ice-T. It was never just Benson and Stabler during the prime days of the Dick Wolf drama. No, it also featured a strong supporting cast in Ice-T and Richard Belzer as fellow detectives. The show worked so well for so long not just because of the excellent Hargitay in the lead role but the whole ensemble that fans latched onto.

Ice-T was asked about his time working with Hargitay on Law & Order: SVU and here is what he said,”[o]ne of the best things about working on this show is Mariska is not a b***h.” He then suggested that the actress continually puts effort into her performance.  “She does not come on set with a bad attitude, and she is always on point.”

How awesome is that, fellow Outsiders, that as awesome as Hargitay was on-screen she is just as pleasant off-screen. We have read countless stories of actors who don’t necessarily match the character they play on the screen off the screen. From Ice-T’s perspective, that is actually the case and Hargitay is a delight to work with not just because she is an excellent actor but also because she maintains a good attitude. Attitude is one of the few things we can control in this world and it’s great to hear she always has maintained one on set.

Ice-T goes on to say, “I think the best thing about our show is that everybody on our show that we work with is so wonderful. It’s easy. You know, I love Mariska. We get along. Just the work environment is so fun,” said Ice-T, who also complimented his co-star for having a great sense of humor — seemingly the exact opposite of her stoic, serious character. Hargitay shared similar sentiments, stating, “people throw the word family around but after 20 years, it’s true.”

This makes sense then why the show is still going and has gone for a long. The cast likes working with one another. The culture on that show is perfect and it keeps folks like Hargitay sticking around for as long as she has. When you find a good work culture, you don’t want to leave it. It really is great to know all of our favorite characters have just as much fun working on the show as we do watch it.

You can now watch Hargitay on Law & Order: Organized Crime on NBC with her old running mate Stabler.
