Poor criminals. Olivia Benson of Law & Order: SVU fame is compiling a list. We’re almost positive she’s filling up the naughty side.
However, the show’s fans had other thoughts. If they had their way, the next thing you know they’d be putting some mistletoe next to that meager Law & Order: SVU tree.
It’s all why the SVU social media account was having some festive seasonal fun Monday morning with Christmas five days away. There was Mariska Hargitay’s Benson, standing in front of a Christmas tree. She’s holding her phone and she looks anything but happy and jolly.
“She’s making a list… and checking it twice,” the Law & Order: SVU social media team wrote.
Her fans thought she definitely had someone on her list. But it wasn’t a criminal. Nope, it was a former partner, possible future love interest and someone who frustrates her to the max. That’s Christopher Meloni’s Elliot Stabler. He’s on Law & Order: Organized Crime now. But the two frequently cross paths. That’s why it’s called a crossover.
One fan posted a photo of Meloni, with his sexy Zaddy grin, and wrote: “Her Christmas list AND to-do list.” We promise you, that’s not the way Stabler ever looked at Richard Wheatley or Jon Kosta.
Maybe Hargitay Had Another Law & Order: SVU Character In Mind
A poster named Jenny wrote: “Somehow Stabler ended up on the naughty AND nice list…wonder how that happened?” Then another fan replied, “That’s not the kind of naughty Santa keeps track of, Jenny.”
Still another picked up on the Meloni theme: “Next time she orders a Stabler can we expedite the delivery please.”
But when you look at that withering Benson glance, we feel like she’s dealing with naughty criminals. We’re almost positive she trained that gaze on Richard Wheatley.
Alas, there’s not a new Law & Order: SVU episode until Jan. 6. But the last new hour was a doozy. It all unfolded Dec. 9, with the People vs Richard Wheatley. That’s when the state of New York put Wheatley on trial for the murder of Kathy Stabler, Elliot’s wife. Come to think of it, Benson’s look in front of the Christmas tree might’ve been reserved for her former friend Barba, who defended Wheatley at trial.
Spoiler alert. The jury couldn’t come to a verdict on Wheatley’s guilt. And during the trial, Wheatley and Stabler played all sorts of mental games. Stabler probably was the best at that. But it didn’t help the Benson-Stabler cause when Wheatley’s ex-wife, Angela, took the stand. Stabler had a fling with Angela before he knew she possibly gave the order to kill Kathy.
The Wheatley fallout then moved to the next hour. But it had a twist. Stabler’s son, Eli, met a woman at an outdoor gathering. She took him back to her place where they took shots of tequila and popped some pills. Eli woke up on the couch. He found the woman on her bed. She was dead.
Of course, Benson rushed over to help Stabler when the Jersey cops called about his son. Turns out, the woman Eli was with was a paid escort. And someone paid a man to kill her and make it look like Eli did it.
See, we think the Law & Order: SVU tweet was really Benson focusing on the bad guys. There certainly are plenty of them on the show.
