Fans had gotten used to, and very fond of, the “Law & Order: Organized Crime” star rocking his salt and pepper beard for this current season of the series. The clean look makes him look younger and may remind some fans of his old “Law & Order: SVU” days back in the day.
Hargitay shared the iconic snapshot of the two of them on Instagram. She captioned the photo, “Who’s with us tonight? #LawAndOrderThursdays #SVU #OC #Benson #Stabler #WeGotYou #They’dAlreadyDisappeared.”
Some were quick to point out the new look. One person wrote, “We gonna talk about the shaved face?”
Meanwhile, another person commented on his outfit, “I can’t believe Chris Meloni invented looking hot in army jackets.”
As always, the “Law & Order: SVU” community is rooting for the two iconic characters to finally do something about that romantic spark. While fans are (not so patiently) waiting for what seems inevitable at this point, Dick Wolf is sitting back and enjoying the ride.
Fans are clinging to more than hope, after all. The two had an intense reunion after a decade apart. Stabler has so far managed to profess his love for Benson. He also gave her a letter that shares the complicated feelings he had with his former partner earlier in his life.
Wolf said that with such a long history, waiting is a part of the game.
“I don’t anticipate them running off and living together as much as the audience would like that. Anticipation is the most exciting part of most relationships… the chase is always better,” Dick Wolf said during an interview with ET Online.
New Face on ‘Law & Order: SVU’
While fans are more than accustomed to seeing Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni, the “Law & Order: SVU” world also brought in an all-new popular face.
Octavio Pisano was welcomed to the family as he portrays Detective Joe Velasco. He first appeared during the season 23 premiere. His character is a former undercover detective that worked under Chief McGrath and has now been assigned to the SVU.
According to Deadline, we’ll be seeing a lot more of him. He just got promoted to a series regular on “Law & Order: SVU.”
His promotion comes shortly after two core cast members left the show — Jamie Gray Hyder as Officer Kat Tamin and Demore Barnes as Deputy Chief Christian Garland.
He’s entering a series that already has over two decades of history. Regardless, Pisano may still get plenty of time with the NBC series. The show received a three-year renewal in 2020 that will take it at least through season 24. There could also be another renewal after that.
