‘Law & Order: SVU’ Star Mariska Hargitay Says She ‘Probably Shouldn’t Have Showed’ This ‘Sneak Peek’

Mariska Hargitay is as iconic as ever, even when she’s not portraying Captain Olivia Benson on “Law & Order: SVU.”

She recently took fans on a pretty entertaining behind-the-scenes look at what really happens on the set of the show. It starts with her cryptically whispering while filming backstage. She even included some heartfelt “#SpreadtheLove” and “#ILoveMyCrew” hashtags in her post.

Mariska Hargitay Shows Backstage of ‘Law & Order: SVU’

She said that she “came out to ask a question and this is what I was met with. Just so you know what I have to deal with, okay.” She then shows a cameraman sitting next to a dummy backstage.

In the background, you can hear a fellow crew member tell Hargitay to “stand down.” Hargitay’s inner Olivia Benson comes through and she jokingly says, “you don’t tell me to stand down … I decide when I stand down.”

Her whispering gradually gets quieter and quieter as she informs viewers that there is a scene being filmed. The camera looks in that direction for a split section and she says, “I probably shouldn’t have shown you that, that’s a sneak peek.”

The behind the scenes look gives fans an idea of all the lighting, props, cameras, and people involved in filming “Law & Order: SVU.” It also shows Hargitay’s fun and lighthearted side, seeing as she doesn’t get to explore that as much when playing Benson and tracking down criminals.

Hargitay Teases Possible Love Interest

Honestly, Mariska Hargitay is the show’s best advertiser and hype provider.

The most notable example of that has been when Hargitay and Christopher Meloni tease a potential romance between their characters. Meloni is the star of “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” but he was originally on “SVU” for years with Hargitay.

The show has teased a Benson-Stabler romance, including a mysterious letter written by Stabler. Even more, Meloni posted a photo of the two of them about to kiss backstage. He wrote, “#Rehearsing what @Mariska?”

For Meloni and Hargitay, it may be a long time coming after all. “But it’s complex and real, and I think what I love about it most is that it’s earned. This relationship is truly earned. Not a lot of people have a 23-year relationship,” they said on the “Today” show back in September.

The writers seem content with dragging out the possibility of a little romance between the two stars. In fact, Dick Wolf seems content forcing fans to wait for it all.

“I don’t anticipate them running off and living together as much as the audience would like that. Anticipation is the most exciting part of most relationships… the chase is always better,” Wolf said in an interview with ET Online.
