‘Law & Order: SVU’: Tamara Taylor Breaks Down Dynamic Between Benson and Angela

by Joe Rutland

There definitely is some tension between Olivia Benson and Angela Wheatley on Law & Order: SVU. So, what’s going on here?

Actress Tamara Taylor, who plays Richard Wheatley’s wife, talked about it in an interview with TV Insider.

“There’s an understanding,” Taylor said. “I think that there is a gentleness and just — Benson’s just lovely is the truth. I think she just understands Stabler better than anybody else and also understands that life can be messy and strange and uncomfortable in moments.

“You’d think that they would be archenemies, but I don’t think they are,” she said. “I just don’t think that’s how it’s landing.”

Actress Mariska Hargitay plays Benson as the common denominator between Olivia and Angela is Eliot Stabler, played by Chris Meloni.

Law & Order: SVU airs in its traditional Thursday night timeslot at 9 p.m. ET, 8 p.m. CT, on NBC.

‘Law & Order: SVU’ Fans Are Still Hung Up About A Specific Episode

Now, with Law & Order: SVU being on NBC for more than two decades, there probably are a couple of episodes that don’t rank highly.

In this case, it’s a Season 15 episode titled Dissonant Voices.

Broadway star Billy Porter starred as Jackie Walker, who is a TV personality as well as Pre-K music teacher.

The case revolves around Walker being accused of molesting his students. Outsiders, this was one strange episode with lots of dark twists and turns.

Some stories that were uncovered by detectives just did not line up well. Still, Benson, Amaro, and attorney Pippa Cox really believed Walker was guilty.

But Rollins and Fin were the lone ones who carried doubts.

Law & Order: SVU fans got on Reddit to discuss the episode. “Anyone else hate this episode?” the original post asked. “This is so messed up what they did to him.”

But it was uncovered that the young boys’ sisters were coaching them on how to talk.

Benson Actress Hargitay Talks About Chemistry She Had With Meloni

Yes, Law & Order: SVU has been on for more than 20 seasons.

Hargitay has been there for all of them. Still, she took time out when the show turned 20 to talk about it. She did in an interview with TV Insider.

She could not remember any stories related to the early years. What did stand out? Her “immediate chemistry” with Chris Meloni.

Hargitay did remember filming the series pilot in the Meatpacking District of New York City.

“It was really hot and raining,” Hargitay said. “So we all had to wear baseball caps. I was going, ‘How lucky is this California girl to be shooting a television series in New York with this fantastic actor [Meloni] and fantastic crew!'”
