Mark Wahlberg Facing Lawsuit From New Owners of Former Wahlburgers Location

by Victoria Santiago

Mark Wahlberg is being sued by the new owners of his Los Angeles Wahlburgers location. He’s being sued because when he ended his lease there, he took everything from the building. Legal documents show that Wahlberg and his company Tinseltown are being sued by Montgomery Management Company (MMC).

Wahlberg removed all of the light fixtures from the building, except for recessed lighting. He also removed all of the tables and booths in the building. They were fixed to the floor and the walls. After doing these things, the building was obviously in shambles. So much so that it’s not possible for new tenants to use the property. Unfortunately, the building owners have already leased the property to new tenants, before finding out that they couldn’t actually use the space for anything at the moment. Because of that, MMC is suing for $350,000.

The court documents go into further detail on what exactly Wahlberg’s team did when they moved from the location. His team “removed the three-compartment sink and hand washing sink from the kitchen area, all of which were attached to the walls,” and “removed the walk-in cooler and the door and controller from the walk-in freezer.”

These accusations are shocking, to say the least, but they don’t stop there. A seafood restaurant called Saltie Girl LA has rented the space. Saltie Girl LA reportedly offered to buy the liquor license for the property off of Wahlberg. Thus, Wahlberg and his company are also being accused of “threatening to remove more fixturized property and refused to sell the liquor license unless [they] paid exorbitant sums of money to Tinseltown.”

Mark Wahlberg’s Many Businesses

Wahlburgers is just one of the star’s business ventures. The restaurant chain was founded in 2011 by Paul Wahlberg, a chef. It’s co-owned by Mark and their other brother, Donnie. There are 49 Wahlburgers locations in the U.S., two in Canada, and one in Germany. As the name suggests, the restaurant chain serves burgers.

He also owns a company called Mark Wahlberg Airstream & RV. The RV company just recently opened a second location in Ohio. In all, Wahlberg reportedly owns four dealerships in the Columbus, O.H. area. The RV company focuses on all things camping/traveling. In addition to selling supplies, they also finance new and used RVs. Personally, he loves to spend time adventuring with his family, which is why he started the RV business.

Additionally, back in 2013, he bought an interest in the cricket team the Barbados Tridents. One of his more recent ventures is an online platform called Ballers Report. The platform focuses on business, sports, and entertainment. He also has his own foundation for inner-city youth. It’s called the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation. The foundation aims to improve the quality of life of kids through activities and partnerships.
