Since the tragic news came to life that Halyna Hutchins was killed on the set of “Rust,” messages of support have poured in for her family and friends. One person who decided to publically share their condolences was “NCIS” star Brian Dietzen.
Like many others, Dietzen, who plays Dr. Jimmy Palmer in the popular CBS series, chose social media as the platform for sharing his message. And like many others, the 43-year-old actor reacted with shock to the news of the tragic event.
According to reports, Hutchins died after star Alec Baldwin reportedly discharged a prop gun on the set.
“My God. So heartbreaking to hear about Halyna Hutchins’ death,” the “NCIS” star began he tweet on Friday, Oct. 22. “Thinking of her and her family today.”

In closing, the “NCIS” actor shared a few words about the importance of safety precautions for the cast and crew while they are filming both movies and television shows. “As always, #safetyonset is absolutely paramount while filming,” he wrote.
In addition to killing Halyna Hutchins, the incident also injured Joel Souza. Hutchins was the cinematographer for “Rust,” while Souza was its director. She was 42 years old at the time of her death. Souza is 48 years old.
Some Twitter users shared the “NCIS” star’s feelings about the unfortunate incident that killed Hutchins and injured Souza. For example, @Toranushi said: “My heart hurts about this.” Also, @lindaalmond8 posted, “Terrible tragedy,” in response to the “NCIS” actor’s message.
Along with his comments of support for the family and friends of Halyna Hutchins, Brian Dietzen retweeted a report from Deadline Hollywood about the incident. According to that report, the film “Rust” was being shot in New Mexico.
The incident that led to the death of Hutchins and the injury to Souza reportedly took place on Thursday, Oct. 21. A 911 call from the set took place after the incident. During that call, a shooting was reported.
Halyna Hutchins Was a Talented Cinematographer
Halyna Hutchins passed away in a hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Joel Souza, who also wrote the script for “Rust,” was also taken to a hospital.
Hutchins was just making a name for herself in the film industry. She had been making movies for less than a decade at the time of her tragic death. Her talents can be viewed in such films as “Archenemy” and also “Blindfire.”
Alec Baldwin, who is 68 years old, is both a producer and an actor for the film. “Mr. Baldwin was questioned by investigators and released. No arrests or charges have been filed,” a representative of the Santa Fe Sheriff’s Department reported.
Unsurprisingly, the filming of “Rust” came to a halt after the incident. According to a representative from the film, “Production has been halted for the time being. … the safety of our cast and crew remains our top priority.”
