It’s officially Christmas weekend which means it’s time to whip out those holiday classics. One that we can all learn something from, regardless of age, is the Grinch. By the end of the film, the green Ebenezer Scrooge’s heart grows tenfold and we hear the following line: “Maybe Christmas doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas perhaps means a little bit more.” And that’s exactly how the cast of “NCIS: Hawai’i” feels.

The official Twitter account for the show shared a video today that involves the cast members sharing what they’re most grateful for this holiday season. It’s safe to say that the “Aloha spirit” and sandy beaches are near the top of the list. But at the end of the day, “Ohana” is just as important.

You can listen to the cast share their reflections here:

“Ohana” is the Hawaiian word for family and the term includes more than just your blood relatives. So while the “NCIS: Hawai’i” cast has always been thankful for their own special “Ohana” together on the show’s set, they also describe how grateful they are for the locals who have welcomed them with open arms.

The ‘NCIS: Hawai’i’ Cast Describes How They Try to Advocate For the Island’s Culture

When most people think of Hawai’i, they probably think of it as a tourist destination. And that certainly rings true. In 2017 alone, government data revealed there were over 9 million visitors to the Hawaiian Islands, and these tourists brought in over $16 billion in revenue. But the truth is, there’s a lot more to Hawai’i than that.

In the video above, some of the “NCIS: Hawai’i” cast speaks to the culture of the people and islands and how the show tries to do them justice. People reports that before shooting for the spin-off even began, the cast attended a traditional Hawaiian blessing ceremony on Oahu. The ceremony included traditional lei necklaces, an Oli Aloha welcoming chant, and a Pule Ho’oku’u closing prayer.

The State’s Actual NCIS Division Gives the Show Their Approval

Special Agent in Charge Norman Dominesey holds the actual position that Vanessa Lachey portrays as Jane Tennant on the show.

“I love the teamwork I see displayed on the show,” says Dominesey who joined the field office in 2019. “It’s what we see in our field office and throughout our organization. Law enforcement is a profession where teamwork is critical. We’re all on the same team working on the same goals, which are to protect those who can’t protect themselves or be a voice for a victim who can no longer speak.”

The team at Outsider wishes you and your “Ohana” a very Merry Christmas!
