‘NCIS: Hawai’i’: Did the Show Just Confirm a Character Death in Upcoming Second Episode?

The second episode of NCIS: Hawai’i involves lots of big explosions and at least one death.

The episode titled Boom will explore how the agents track down a group of criminals using decades-old dynamite for their robberies. And special agent in charge Jane Tennant will be forced to deal with the death of one of her people. That’s all according to a first look of NCIS: Hawai’i. Last Monday’s pilot was the most-watched new show of the fall season.

As Boom unfolds, we see two agents — Karl and Melissa — patrolling in their armored vehicles. The two have private lives outside of the offices of NCIS: Hawai’i. Melissa begins telling Karl about her young son.

“Doesn’t matter what time I wake up, that boy is in the hallway asking me questions like I memorized the encyclopedia in my sleep,” Melissa tells Karl. “Four in the morning, a child in his dinosaur pajamas staring at you.”

As Karl wise cracks about it being a “strong argument for living alone,” Melissa explains how much she loves her son. “You know, even when he frustrates me, gives me those wide eyes I fall all the way in love again.”

The dialogue foreshadows a looming disaster. Karl doesn’t like chit chat and just as Melissa is about to say sorry, their vehicle explodes. Karl pulls himself from the wreckage as Melissa radios for help. A group of masked men approach the vehicle. One of them kills Karl as he has his hands up.

NCIS: Hawai’i Episode Also Features an Explosive Demo

And that’s the intro to NCIS: Hawai’i and Boom. The official plot synopsis: “Tennant and NCIS must take down a notorious team of international thieves using WWII explosives on armored trucks before they complete their final big job and disappear. Also, Kai searches for a new place to live; Lucy and Whistler have a standoff about their previous encounter; and Ernie’s mission in the field is more alarming than he expected, on NCIS: HAWAI`I.”

Marcus Hanson portrayed Karl, with Fiona Rene playing Melissa. Both were listed as guest stars on Boom. Neither appeared in the season premiere.

In another NCIS: Hawai’i first look, we see Tennant and Kai meeting with Norman Gates. His nickname is Boom Boom. He’s the explosive expert. And she shows Tennant and Kai how different sorts of explosives go boom.

In the clip, Vanessa Lachey’s Tennant and Alex Tarrant’s Kai are getting a demonstration about explosives from an expert nicknamed “Boom Boom.”

“You want to take out an entire building, let the world know you’re there,” says Boom Boom, “TNT is your wingman.”

Boom Boom then tells the agents that it’s not your average dynamite. It’s probably from World War II. Or as Boom Boom describes it: “That’s good old-fashioned American kick ass.” Boom Boom and his men know where some of the old dynamite is hidden.

See if the NCIS: Hawai’i special agents solve this crime. Boom is set for Monday night, right after NCIS.
