If you tuned into Monday night’s episode of “NCIS: Hawai’i,” you got to watch as some romantic sparks finally take off between Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey) and Joe Milius (Enver Gjokaj).

Fans have been possibly expecting romance between the two characters from the very beginning. Despite the fact that they had a rocky and dramatic professional first meeting, fans saw the potential for more between the two powerful characters.

The show returned after a two-week hiatus for the episode titled “Legacy.” The team investigated the assassination of an anti-capitalist protester. Suddenly, they are also thrust into a nasty struggle between a tech company and eco-activists over land.

Jane Tennant Romance on ‘NCIS: Hawai’i’

In the midst of it all, Jane and Joe are exploring a different side to their relationship.

They decide to go on a date after Joe reveals he’s actually being relocated to the Pentagon. So, while the two shared a very sweet moment, we may not get to see much of him at all in the near future.

The “NCIS: Hawai’i” Instagram account highlighted the steamy kiss between the two characters. The post was captioned, “Things were heating up on last night’s episode of #NCISHawaii, and we are here for it.”

Fans were ecstatic over the monumental and romantic moment between the two. One fan wrote enthusiastically, “That was FABULOUSLY NICE.” Another fan was upset at the notion of Joe leaving soon. “Don’t let him leave almost all ncis shows give us the couple we want when one of them is leaving but please don’t do that we want Jane and [Milius].”

Vanessa Lachey even spoke to “The Talk” regarding the romance on Monday’s episode. She also mentioned how “NCIS: Hawai’i” sticks out from the other shows in the franchise.

“Well, the beauty of the ‘NCIS’ franchise is that with ‘NCIS: Hawai’i’ they want to evolve it and they want to include the personal stories and the lives of our agents and what makes us tick. My character, Jane Tennant, ultimately is a single mom, she’s divorced, and she still wants to go out and have a drink with the guy and have a conversation … They give my character a little love connection,” Lachey said.

Other Romantic Pairing on the Show

The show has also created a romantic pairing between NCIS Junior Field Agent Lucy Tara and Kate Whistler, a Special Agent from the Defense Intelligence Agency.

In fact, “NCIS: Hawai’i” gave fans a glimpse of that relationship at the end of the very first episode. The two shared a kiss at Whistler’s apartment after Lucy went there to apologize for their interactions at work. It’s clear the two have a history that stretches out long before this moment in time.

As of now, the two decided they wanted to keep their relationship private so people at work wouldn’t find out.
