‘NCIS: Hawai’i’: Full Recap of Season 1, Episode 9, ‘Impostor’

by Joe Rutland

As NCIS: Hawai’i closed out its fall season, the team gets to work investigating a cold case surrounding the attack on Pearl Harbor.

In the episode titled Impostor, they learn that the human remains are of a 100-year-old survivor of that day on Dec. 7, 1941. Celeb Dirty Laundry offers an assist as we break down what happened in Monday’s episode.

A Beachcomber found these remains in a cave. Turns out the body had been dead for years and there was no ID. Lucy, played by Yasmine Al-Bustami, was busy looking up Coco Chanel creating a military uniform. This let her realize that the body was from World War II.

The DNA remains were submitted to an ancestry database. Turns out the victim’s name is Ken Ito.

Jane Tennant, played by Vanessa Lachey on NCIS: Hawai’i, got word about the ID. She took it to her bosses who said, in no uncertain terms, that she has to find out which is the real Ken Ito. Now the man claiming he was Ito is a veteran who served in three wars and whose own daughter joined the Navy.

‘NCIS: Hawai’i’ Team Couldn’t Ask Man Alive as Ito Serious Questions

They could not ask Ito. Why? He has dementia, is 100 years old, and can’t remember much. Now he could remember where he served and his unit. Additionally, he mentioned recruiting Japanese immigrants fresh to the island. But he got confused.

The man that the NCIS: Hawai’i team suspected to be a fraud was of no use. So, they did find that Ito recruited Japanese immigrants as civilians. But Tennant started going through an archive for photos with her aunt. They came across a man trying to steal a file. Her aunt scratched him and grabbed a photo out of his hand.

This photo was of Ito and the man claiming to be Ito. What? Well, it turns out that the fraud was a Japanese immigrant hired as a civilian.

Fraudster Struggled With Gun While Fishing With Ito and Gunshot Killed Real Ito

It turns out that the gun the Fraudster had fired. The shot killed Ito. But the man pretending to be Ito couldn’t remember the details. Yet he knows who killed Ito. Obviously, Tennant reported this and her superiors removed the fraud from the guest list at the Pearl Harbor event.

The NCIS: Hawai’i team found out who stole Ito’s file. It was a home health aide blackmailing the Ito family.

The man pretending to be Ito tried to kill himself after Pearl Harbor The real Ito tried to stop. They fought over the gun and Ito won. Ito said he’d put him out of his misery, then a Japanese attack plane shot him down.
