The “NCIS” franchise is no stranger to spin-offs. In addition to the mothership series, fans have seen different teams in action in places like Los Angeles and New Orleans. Now, fans have had a couple of weeks’ worth of “NCIS: Hawai’i.”

This means getting to know the all-new team working out of the sunny beaches of Hawaii. The new rookie series stars Vanessa Lachey as Special Agent Jane Tennant, the first female in charge of the Pearl Harbor base.

She is joined by Yasmine Al-Bustami, Tori Anderson, Noah Mills, Alex Tarrant, and Jason Antoon for the series.

So far, the show has some mixed reviews. It has also slightly dipped in ratings. According to TV Line, both “NCIS” and “NCIS: Hawai’i” saw a dip in viewers and ratings this past week. “NCIS” had 7.6 million viewers and a 0.6 rating. Meanwhile, “NCIS: Hawai’i” had a total of 5.4 million viewers and a 0.4 rating.

This is the first major ratings decrease for the rookie series. Last week, for example, the show had 5.4 million viewers, but a rating of 0.5.

“NCIS: Hawai’i” is keeping up in terms of ratings with other Monday night shows like “Ordinary Joe,” “The Neighborhood,” and “Bob Loves Abishola.” The biggest competition for the “NCIS” franchise on Mondays is “The Voice.”

The main “NCIS” series is just barely beating out “The Voice” as the most-watched show of the night. “The Voice” racked in a total of 7.2 million viewers and a 0.9 rating.

Vanessa Lachey Moves to Hawaii

Vanessa Lachey is proving she’s very much dedicated to her new role as Jane Tennant on “NCIS: Hawai’i.”

In fact, she moved her family over to Hawaii so she could focus on filming the new rookie series. She recently spoke about her choice to pack her bags with ET Online.

“It was a talk that I had with my husband and I said, ‘What do you think?’ and…he’s like, ‘Hawaii, umm, it could be worse.’ And he was like, ‘This is awesome!’ And I’ll never forget him saying, ‘This is your time and you’ve been there in the past for me,'” Lachey said regarding her husband Nick Lachey’s reaction to it all.

She also said they try to do everything “50/50.” That means when he’s touring, she tries to be home, and when she’s filming he tries to be home. As for her three kids, Lachey said they haven’t been happier.

“I ask them all the time, ‘Are you happy or no?’ And they’re like, yeah! So they’re very happy here, they love it here. They’re island babies. I didn’t even realize I had island babies until I brought them here,” she also said.

She’s been sharing a lot of snapshots of her kids enjoying paradise with her. The “NCIS: Hawai’i” star also posted an adorable photo of her three kids posing for the first day of school picture.
