While “NCIS: Hawai’i” is new to the franchise, the spin-off’s stars are adept in recognizing the power and appeal of “NCIS” in addition to its senior spin-off, “NCIS: Los Angeles.” Now, actress Tori Anderson has joined the “NCIS” family. Hopping aboard the franchise’s Hawaiin-based team as one of the series’ newest cast members, she’s revealed what makes “NCIS” so appealing to viewers.

In speaking with Looper, Anderson initially stated that what makes the series so iconic and admirable is its fanbase and how over an impressive 19 seasons, fans have remained dedicated to the ever-evolving teams and the franchise as a whole.

However, the “NCIS: Hawai’i” star further expanded on why the series has been so successful.

“[A] lot of it comes down to the moral code of the show,” Anderson began. “It’s really well-written characters that want to leave the world a better place. It’s a team environment, and that’s such an amazing thing to bring in.”

That said, the family has remained an important and forerunning value throughout 19 seasons of “NCIS” and 13 seasons of “NCIS: Los Angeles.” However, it takes on a unique presence on “NCIS: Hawai’i.”

During the interview, Anderson specified, “especially on the islands of Hawaii, [there] is this feeling of ‘ohana’ [family], and that’s so important to the culture here.” However, she also detailed, as mentioned prior, “[family’s] also a vital part of ‘NCIS’ too.”

Now, in joining the “NCIS” family, “NCIS: Hawai’i” serves to combine those two versions of that significant value. Anderson concluded that bringing the two entities together makes for “a very high-paced show, but with good three-dimensional characters.”

‘NCIS: Hawai’i’ Characters Face ‘Bumpy Journey’ in Upcoming Episode

“NCIS: Hawai’i” has been groundbreaking for the franchise for several reasons. Nevertheless, one of the major milestones comes with the relationship that’s developed between Lucy and Kate. So far, fans have been loving the couple’s growth. That said, Kate actress Tori Anderson recently revealed that things aren’t always bright and sunny between the two women.

In speaking with Looper, the “NCIS: Hawai’i” actress revealed that Kate and Lucy will face a bumpy road ahead.

To begin, Anderson stated, “They have quite a tumultuous relationship, and that’s what I love about the writing of these two people.”

She explained because Kate and Lucy come from such diverse backgrounds, their approach to life, work, and relationships vary drastically.

As “NCIS: Hawai’i” fans have observed, Kate is quieter and reserved, while Lucy boasts a bright, youthful, and energetic spirit. Overall, it definitely causes some conflict. However, as the franchise’s very first openly gay couple, it would make sense that writers and showrunners put these two characters through the wringer. The conflict likely further deepens their bond. As a result, “NCIS: Hawai’i” sees even more “three-dimensional characters,” as Anderson previously put it.

Of the couple, the “NCIS: Hawai’i” star concluded, “there are going to be ups and downs. I’ll just say that.”
