In our imagination, we’re trying to ponder NCIS: Hawai’i star Vanessa Lachey happily married to superstar Ryan Reynolds.
Lachey, the former Miss Teen USA, wouldn’t have married singer and reality star Nick Lachey. And Reynolds never would’ve fallen in love with Blake Lively.
So let the NCIS: Hawai’i star tell this tale about her secret crush, Ryan Reynolds. He was dating singer and fellow Canadian Alanis Morissette two decades ago when she playfully pined after Reynolds.
“He’s married now, and I love them together. It’s Ryan Reynolds!” the NCIS: Hawai’i star said Tuesday on the Lady Gang podcast. “I just think he’s so charming. He’s like an action star, but he’s so self-deprecating, and he’s funny … and he’s so all of the things.”
We agree with Lachey, Reynolds is so all of the things. His latest movie is Red Notice. He stars alongside Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot, but we digress.
Lachey said she and Nick started talking in 2006, after he and Jessica Simpson got a divorce. They soon made it an official, serious relationship. At the time, she was hosting TRL. Coincidentally, she also appeared in her new boyfriend’s music video for What’s Left of Me.
“I’ll never forget, I came into TRL and I told my hair and makeup girls, ‘Nick and I made it official!” Lachey recalled. “We’re boyfriend, girlfriend. My hair girl goes, ‘Maybe this isn’t the time I should tell you, Ryan Reynolds and Alanis called off their engagement.”
It all worked out. Nick and Vanessa got engaged in 2010 and were married in the British Virgin Islands two years later. They now have three children. Lachey became the first female special agent in charge on NCIS: Hawai’i, one of the most popular new shows. Meanwhile, Reynolds married actress Scarlett Johansson in 2008. They divorced in 2011. Then a year later, he married Lively. They are the parents of three daughters.
NCIS: Hawai’i Episode Featured Jane Tennant On a Date
Outsiders, did you watch Monday night’s episode of NCIS: Hawai’i? Writers allowed for Lachey, who plays Jane Tennant, to have a love interest. On Legacy, Tennant asked out Navy Captain Joe Milius, who was being transferred from Pearl Harbor to Washington, D.C. After dinner and multiple shots of tequila, the two returned to Jane’s house. Her son, Alex, came home the next morning to find Joe in the house.
Lachey teased the NCIS: Hawai’i romance during a Monday appearance on The Talk. She said the series wants to show all aspects of Jane’s life from the office to home. After all, she’s the single mom of two kids on the show.
“Um, well, the beauty of the NCIS franchise is they want to evolve it,” Lachey said of NCIS: Hawai’i. “They want to include the personal stories and the lives of our agents and what makes us tick. My character, Jane Tennant, ultimately is a single mom. She’s divorced and you know, still wants to go out and have a drink with the cute guy and have conversation.”
