‘NCIS: Hawai’i’: Will the Rest of Team Learn About Lucy and Whistler’s Relationship?

by Suzanne Halliburton

We’re here to let you in on a little NCIS: Hawai’i secret. Everybody soon will know about a budding relationship.

That plot twist was revealed in a TVLine.com Q & A, which the site published Monday. An NCIS: Hawai’i fan named Jennifer asked: “Do you have any scoop on NCIS: Hawai’i‘s Lucy and Whistler? Will the rest of the team find out about their relationship this season?”

Yes, tell us, will the relationship remain secret, seen only by the millions who tune in each Monday? Or, will Ernie, Kai, Jane and Jesse and the gang find out, too?

NCIS: Hawai’i executive producer Christopher Silber had an answer for Lucy and Whistler, but not too many details.

“We have ALL the scoop on Lucy and Whistler, and can’t wait to share the twists and turns of their very satisfying relationship,” Silber said. “As for the team finding out… they will, indeed.”

Will that be in tonight’s episode, called Impostor? Here’s the CBS plot tease: “The NCIS team investigates a cold case involving WWII-era bones on the 80th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor bombings, and are shocked to learn they belong to a 100-year-old survivor of the attack.”

Now, that plot sounds incredibly poignant and timely, considering the 80th anniversary of Pearl Harbor is Tuesday. And, the NCIS: Hawai’i office is nearby Pearl Harbor.

And there is some interaction with Lucy and Kate Whistler, as evidenced by this photo. Plus, the show’s social media account hinted at it as well.

If Not Monday, NCIS: Hawai’i Could Focus on Lucy/Whistler In Next Month’s Episode

Maybe the relationship comes up in January. After NCIS: Hawai’i returns from holiday break, the series next episode is called Lost. CBS describes this episode: “NCIS crosses paths with Whistler’s team while investigating a shipping container filled with contraband weapons. Also, Tennant debates arresting Alex’s friend’s dad, knowing it will cause her friend to move away.”

The show wants to highlight personal relationships in its weekly episodes. Vanessa Lachey, who portrays special agent in charge Jane Tennant, had dinner with Navy captain Joe Milius in the last episode. Lachey promoted the NCIS hour by talking up her character’s dating life.

“Um, well, the beauty of the NCIS franchise is they want to evolve it,” Lachey said of NCIS: Hawai’i on The Talk “They want to include the personal stories and the lives of our agents and what makes us tick. My character, Jane Tennant, ultimately is a single mom. She’s divorced and you know, still wants to go out and have a drink with the cute guy and have conversation.”

NCIS: Hawai’i fans caught a glimpse of the chemistry between agent Lucy (Yasmine Al-Bustami) and Kate Whistler (Tori Anderson) in the series pilot. Kate works for DIA.

In fact, the series promoted the idea of Lucy and Kate as a couple a month ago, when the two shared a sweet kiss. The couple even has a social media hashtag, so if you’re Twitter/Instagram official, there’s something there.

The show tweeted a video, captioning it: “Is it hot in here, or is it just #Kacy.”
