NCIS: Los Angeles star Chris O’Donnel once discussed what it’s like to work with Hetty actress Linda Hunt. O’Donnell plays Callen on the hit show, which returns this October. Throughout the course of the show, Hetty and Callen have had a pretty strained relationship. Hetty has some very direct links to Callen’s past, which will be explored this season.
Because the two get a lot of 1-on-1 time, O’Donnel didn’t hold back when talking about how awesome it is to work with the actress.
“Some of the scenes with Linda Hunt… she’s such an amazing actress you don’t know what to expect,” the NCIS: Los Angeles star said in a February Studio 10 interview. “I read the script and I read the scene out loud, but she has such a way with the English language and the way words roll off her tongue that it’s never what I expect.”
Hetty is a major fan-favorite character, and it’s all thanks to the major presence Linda Hunt has every time she’s on-screen. It seems like O’Donnell agrees.
“To be there face to face with her is an exhilarating experience,” O’Donnell continued.
Linda Hunt is Returning to ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ After Missing Season 12
Much to the concern of fans, Linda hunt missed a good chunk of season 12. That, coupled with rumors that she may have wanted to leave, quickly spiraled. Many wondered if she’d ever come back to the show fully. Thankfully, it was all just speculation. Hunt is returning to NCIS: Los Angeles for season 13 and seems happy to do so.
The actress missed season 12 due to COVID-19 concerns. As one of the senior members of the cast, Hunt was more at risk for contracting the virus so she had to sit the season out. She returned to the season 12 finale after receiving her vaccines, and couldn’t be more excited to talk about season 13.
“Linda had both her vaccines, she was feeling great, and she came back. And she was so happy to be back. She had been gone for so long and hadn’t really interacted with anyone, so she was just so thrilled to be back on set,” NCIS: Los Angeles showrunner R. Scott Gemmill told TV Insider.
“The minute I saw her, she’s like, “Let’s talk about next season…,” so I think that as tough as last year was, for a lot of reasons, she, like the rest of us, is starting to see a little light at the end of the tunnel and feels good about coming back to work,” he said.
Hetty’s in for a big season next season. On top of dealing with Callen, who suspects she’s hiding the truth about his past, she also has plenty of skirmishes with her boss, Admiral Kilbride. It should make for a great time, so if you want to tune in, season 13 of NCIS: Los Angeles airs on Sunday, October 10th.
